QUOTE(kokocrun @ Jul 26 2010, 11:51 AM) pls explain more bout unifi hub or direct me with a link Go search in lowyat Anyway DC+ hub is a p2p for Unifi users to download from each other. Why do this? Because when monthly bandwidth caps are finally enforced, the international download traffic will be counted towards your quote and eventually throttle you to death. To avoid it, we setup a local p2p scene so the only traffic we use is local and is not counted towards the bandwidth quota. Also faster download speed besides. |

QUOTE(myjunk @ Aug 8 2010, 04:26 PM) the question is, do we really need the DIR-615 for the IPTV then? That part I'm still not clear. (actually, VLAN tagging is for what purpose? From my knowledge, it provides a sor-of private virtual lan for segmentating traffics from 1 router into 2 or more different lans where each lan can't see the other w/o some magic) Its so that iptv and iphone can work apparently.Added on August 8, 2010, 4:29 pmhttp://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Setting_up_IPTV_without_impact_to_LAN_and_Wireless_traffic I have a linksys which I've flashed to dd-wrt, looks like can straight away replace? |

It's a crap router. Just replace it. My replacement only cost 270 and that is shiping included. The router spec way better then dir-615 and home consumer router except pfsense of course.

QUOTE(klseet @ Aug 15 2010, 02:56 PM) May I know what replacement you bought? Is it easy to setup? ESR-9850 which has 700 mbps total throughput which is excellent. Please share more details, thx! I bought from Linkecomputer from Hongkong e-seller which does international shipping. Total cost only RM270 which is cheap when compared to buying locally for highend routers which cost like 600+ in Malaysia. And the ESR-9850 out performs them which is why i highly recommend them. The only downside is no third party support yet for other firmwares. But the basic firmware is pretty good if you ask me, but lacks client mode for wireless. |

What exactly does the RB250 GS offer as a replacement for the free DIR-615 ?
I thought they both do the same thing as in act like a switch to enable vlan to work. So what is the advantage in spending for the microtik get you :/ ?? I don't have the luxury to spend unnecessarily if there is no actual improvement. |

My esr-9850 router has been continously on for a few weeks.
My old dir-655 router always hang every 3 hours or so. Added on August 24, 2010, 6:59 am QUOTE(mahad13 @ Aug 24 2010, 06:04 AM) But isn't that true if the dir-615 is used as the router ??But in switch mode using riv's guide so can use own router, doesn't the dir-615 not have any effect on performance ??
