Thanks guys. Haven't really had time to explore/experiment with the cam settings as I'm new to android and most of it in full auto. I'm actually quite sure it can perform even better with a seasoned user.

@taylorskaki
Snapped the flower while waiting at the LRT station for a movie date with wifey

@sanosizo
Nope, it was a quick one, no one realized it, but even if someone did, nothing wrong with shooting at a public place what wink.gif

@pluginbaby
Haha, I'm fully grown complete with a goatie and I was sitting appropriately on an allotted seat. Used my thigh to hold the cam together as you can guess how shaky it was to shoot in there tongue.gif

only problem when low light. the focus dont do well in that environment. So is good to turn off the flash and hold the phone steady when take photo in low light.

Added on July 28, 2010, 3:30 pmunless when the light extremely low, turn on flash and freeze.... dont move...snap...

Thanks smile.gif The blurry part for first pic is just bokeh, if you look at the point of focus it's really quite sharp. The ice cream looks blur because of all the mist from the dry ice, but if you look at the choc ice cream texture you can see that it's in focus wink.gif

You're in OZ bro? Which part? That's the only western country in winter around this time. And of course, I noticed the Telstra phone booth smile.gif

@Revamperz
Yeah, traded in my W995 for a white X10, stunning little thing. I've always maintained that the trick to a good mobile photo is wipe your lens clean every single time before shooting and get the right exposure/EV value. The rest is just the camera hardware and software which, on the X10 is wow. Much less effort that with my W995 but better quality photos. Too bad the photo light is only good for macro shots in dark environment instead of a proper flash, that's the only thing I miss about my W995.

Thanks smile.gif People are quick to bash X10 because of android 1.6, but the camera is one department they can't bash cool.gif I'm pretty sure Sony implemented some form of Cybershot technology in the device judging from the results I got so far after 2 weeks with the phone. But it's just much cheaper not to use the branding wink.gif

I think so. Anyway, if you're talking about a HTC phone, it's under Camera > Settings > ISO. The default ISO is set to Auto.

You're welcome! You will not be disappointed. By the way, I'm using the cheapest HTC phone available in the market right now - HTC Desire (RM1099) with 5.0 Megapixel camera running on Android 2.1 Eclair. I am sure those more expensive HTC models have better camera and functionality. laugh.gif

Setting ISO = setting light capturing sensitivity. Higher the ISO the more sensitive it is, and of course the bigger the size of the image grain (less quality)

To get good clear picture, make sure the light is bright enough.

Avoid back lighting (light shining from the back of your subject), this will cause your subject to be darken. to correct this, use flash if you have to take back lighting pictures (if your phone camera has flash) Or, reflect some light onto your subject.

In case you are new to photography, go learn some basic photography techniques. This helps a lot in taking good picture.

Agreed, X10 night shots not as good as the day ones. But then again, even dedicated digital cameras can't take same quality night shots as their daylight ones. Here are some 6mp examples taken with X10 vs Kodak C613

Under the circumstances, X10 did quite OK since as you can see from the Kodak photos the lighting is very poor but X10 manage to capture it as though it is adequate.

i can see here, sony ericsson always have the best camera & photo quality.. no doubt coz it use sony sensor (correct me if i'm wrong)
*
Thanks guys. Well, hardware alone can only go so far. Other than the sensor the edge SE has over other OEMs is the image processing algorithm that determines the colours, saturation, noise suppression, contrast and so forth that has been in Sony's expertise for a while now. But these days the gap is narrowing as I can see many excellent photos from Samsung, Nokia and even HTC because most importantly, neither software nor hardware would matter if you don't know how to bring out the best in your device wink.gif

if the setting all auto, it may depends on the light condition and how you handle/snap with the cam.
I also had some pictures taken from my previous SGS,

The camera on SGS is good all this while (I am not sure about others) for me. But it is only good if picture is taken under 'enough' light condition for SGS. If lighting is dim/dark, then the picture quality is sucks. Therefore nightmode comes in. But in nightmode, it is very difficult to get a good picture due to my shaky hands. If you close in my nightmode picture above, you'll see blurred vision of the subjects. Then I have to use anti-shake mode, but the anti-shake mode for stock camera is not very good (Coz it decreases the quality of the picture taken). However, the nightmode and anti-shake mode in camera360 apps is very good when use for SGS. The anti-shake mode in camera360 does not decrease the quality of the pictures taken.

May I add, HD video recording is awesome. This is the one that I love the most.... rclxms.gif

SGS camera when use under bright natural light condition is very good for the picture quality. Under low light, picture quality is not good. But some tweakings of the settings will still make the pictures look good, but then this require some photographic skills which I am still learning.

I would rather say it's adequate only.... Must have the right lightning conditions to get those shots...

Compare to HTC Magic, i think its almost the same, despite inferior in terms of spec

so beautiful pics taken by all users but can't find pics from Nokia N8. Currently have Blackberry 8520 and want to buy good camera phone with latest free apps, We all now know that the camera on this phone is brilliant, there have been countless blogs, pictures and articles on the web about this. I agree the specs on the camera are great for a phone. Even though as I didn't seems fantastic photo's from it as I expected. I seem to fair better with a standard Camera. If some one has the n8 so please share your honest review so i can clear my mind for Nokia N8 or HTC Wildfire. Hope got it soon.

You cannot compare N8 camera with Wildfire. N8 camera is superior.

Btw, this is Android thread, of course no N8 users post their cam photos here. You can find it in symbian threads..

Of course, I use the settings ie. in bright daylight I use daylight WB, when cloudy & dull I use cloudy WB, at the beach I use Beach & Snow scene and Night Landscape scene for night outdoor shots, that's all. But adjusting EV value for bright conditions will result in better exposure and contrast wink.gif

Arc is only better because it has better handling in dark ambience meaning it wouldn't be as blurry as other phones at night because it has faster shutter speed while getting bright photos. That said I prefer X10 pic quality too wink.gif

Well it's a bit shameful for me to share these pics as I see most peoples using their high-end Android with great picture quality.. sweat.gif

Anyway, just for comparison, here's mine taken with the HTC HD2 running on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, stock camera app

dude, if you're reading this, I have to tell you this,

DONT.FEED.BREAD.TO.FISHES

I myself have been feeding fishes at the nearby Mines Wonderland Mall with mom for many years already, just recently found out feeding them with bread is hurting them, the bread in their tummy will expand and cause a lot of pain to them. They don't know what they're actually eating, so please, spread this fact around, don't believe me go check on Google.
