X10 lack of updates is the main problem... Would prefer legend or wildfire, but she don mind the quality of the screen of wildfire then it is really good value to buy... Am using 1 now and my gf also say it is jus nice for a normal girl (non tech savy)... Might plan to buy a eta for myself if yr end bonus is ok, then pass the wildfire to her...

Brand: any
Budget: below 1k
Specs: must have Android at least 2.1 Eclair, wifi, GPS, decent camera, decent sound, 3.5mm jack

I guess it's the Wildfire?  Any other choices?  What are the major disadvantages of the Wildfire?  How about Samsung Galaxy 5?

Thanks~

Wildfire... It's disadvantage is only the screen, but not a major 1 for me. And the slight slower response that's after u install a lot of stuff in it

it depends on what you want in a smartphone.. if gaming is a priority, then galaxy S would be the best because of their GPU which is currently the best out there.. Desire's GPU is kinda sad.. and then also, if u want a more rich display, the Galaxy S has a Super Amoled display with a contrast ratio of 10000:1
and sucky part is really that the camera doesnt have flash.. but the camera on the Galaxy S is better than the one on the Desire..

But gotta give props to Desire for being a solid allround fone, Desire just lacks in the Graphics department (well all snapdragon fones for that matter)..
And Desire's current software is a little more stable than the Galaxy S.. but many new updates are coming out to solve some software issues, and Froyo is coming out this month as well..

So its up to preference.. i say go test both the fones out. it will help u make ur decision..

and another thing.. if ur getting the maxis data plan.. please do not get the 500mb data plan, coz ive read too many cases of superhigh maxis bills just because they exceeded a little pass the 500mb usage.. at least get the 1.5gb one, best is get the 3gb data plan..
*
Desire has froyo already jus on 30th aug, merdeka present... 500mb is enough if you are using wifi at home and office... not a problem for me, last month i have to purposely finish my quota with downloads...

well wildfire is the entry level phone in the HTC Android line up, it screen resolution is the main let down... coz u can't install certain apps because of the resolution is not supported or after u open the apps it will not display or distorted display...
desire is a high end phone at the moment in HTC Android line up, it is a good phone where there is not much limitation on it which u face on wildfire... except it does not has a front VGA camera for video call... other than that it is a complete package...
if you have budget, then Galaxy S is the one where u can get slightly bigger and nicer screen, better gpu and also lighter phone (compare to Desire)... but the build quality is as solid as desire...

Last time i want suggestion for budget android..after do some calculation, now looking android for medium or starting user as this my first experience with android OS..

come guys, give your suggestion..i only think of htc wildfire..any other suggestion..
*
of course if you want to get a proper android i would say Aria or Legend is better... but if you don mind the limitation on Wildfire then u can get it...
the limitation is mostly on Apps supported because of the screen resolution 320x240, where most of the apps is create for 480x320... smile.gif
other than that i'm quite happy with the wildfire on my hand now... coz i'm not really into gaming and a lot of apps... my major requirement is email, internet on the go, msg and of course phone calls...
set your priority and then only u can make a proper decision...

Hi everyone, i'm getting my first smartphone. So I'm thinking of getting HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy S. Which would you guys recommend?

I read that Samsung Galaxy S is kinda laggy and slow when using the internet. Also that Samsung Kies is annoying as hell. 2G must be manually set to off everytime after a reboot.

I also read that HTC Desire battery can only last at most 1 day.

Hopefully someone can help me recommend the better smartphone.

There aint anything we can help on the battery life as currently all androids talktime aren't impressive at all except x10, but major let down is it's os version n multi-touch aren't support (i heard)

But can u wait for 1 or 2 months for the new desire hd or z where it gives u better processor...
If not desire is better, coz i banned Samsung products...

1. Brand. (any HTC. Open for other brand oso)
2. Budget. (1k-1.6k)
3. Specs. (the faster it is, the better)
4. What you need in the phone (Preferably battery life, good resolution for gaming)

Want to try out Android, but these stupid maxis/digi packages confuses me. Looking at HTC Wildfire and HTC aria. Which one performs better? Dont really care about Wildfire's FM radio (who listens to them nowadays anyway?) and flash camera... not so important to me oso. Pricing, wildfire very cheap compared to Aria, but Aria better processor and higher resolution. But is the price worth it ke? Both can update to froyo right?
*
Well both can be updated to froyo but for me i'll take legend instead... Coz better screen n body...
But wildfire is cheap but the major let down is the screen as everyone knows... Aria screen reso is same as legend but not the color displayed 256k TFT (Aria) vs 16m Amoled (Legend)... Ur choice... There will be always midrange phone around to fit ur bill but u add in some small amount u can get better one already...

Wildfire RM1199 > Aria RM1799 > Legend RM1999 > Desire RM2199
what to choose? All list I the rrp of the phone so ur choice... but duno u still can get legend new set or not...
