The earlier batch Samsung Galaxy S suffered lags due to Samsung poorly software implementation. It is not a hardware problem and it is not permanent. In short, this lag problem is solved with newer software updates. I re-post a video here showing SGS in one of the latest ROM. It was posted earlier by @jujx.
Argh. New dilemma. Old Nokia just croaked I think so I'll be needing a new phone soon. I know I posted earlier about what to get but now I'm reconsidering...
Say my budget now lets me get a HTC Desire. My question is this: Since I already have an iPod touch, which covers games/music/apps and all, is it still worth getting the Desire, or should I just get another (cheaper) HTC for simpler phone functionality? Not that I have to get something lower-priced, but would it be better if I got something else?
Also, I know this is an Android thread, but would anyone recommend the HD2 at all? It's a super appealing phone to me, except for that little problem of WM6.5 - is that really a dealbreaker?
Thanks guys
Don't go to WM6.5. Not worth it.
If you like HD2, you can try Desire HD . But, if you insist, there is a way to port HD2 to Android. Just look into WinMo HD2 thread by a user Benny888.

Hi sifus, Im thingking of getting an android phone and narrowed it down to either the HTC Aria or Asus-Garmin A10. Which would be the better one to get?
Difficult to choose. Both are comparable.. what is the price range of these 2 phones?
i m torn between buying a htc desire from shop and then using my family line, i add rm58 for the data package
or
get samsung galaxy s from maxis and cancel my family line n pay rm108 per month for bil..which i m getting for free now.. the thing is..i am a student and i only get rm500 per month from my sponsor...so can u guys recommend which i should go for?
Between desire and galaxy s.. the obvious choice is galaxy s. maxis and digi also selling galaxy s. think digi is cheaper in terms of monthly cost.
the thing is i only 1 maxis..since mostly my family and friends uses maxis.. if i take the galaxy s..i m scared i cant afford the monthly bill..do u think its worth it to makan cucmber to buy the galaxy s?actually would prefer desire hd..but maxis dun offer it..
Lowest maxis plan is RM50 (value50) + RM58 (500Mb data) - RM10(rebate) = RM98 Phone price is RM1699 (1 year contract)
Well, whether you can afford the RM98 per month is entirely your say. You have to consider well. Otherwise you buy the phone from senheng and pay installment. DHD is a good phone, but you won't be getting anything lower than that with SGS either.
wow thanks sifu..reli help a lot..i guess have to think of the rm98 per month thingy..
wat about the family line? will it b a great lost?
Do you calls your family often? Who is the main line in your family? You can still maintain family line by parking all other lines under your line, if the other lines in your family has no contract... you decide.
Added on December 30, 2010, 12:57 pmBTW, I wanna ask sifu here... Am planning to Up to Android... Budget <1k but flexible if can justify the up in features etc but need to save more for it lo...
What I wanna use it for? Calls, SMS, lite GPS, lite gaming, Internet of course la what era edi , Camera for photos (not too particular but something 5 or more mpx) , software upgradability is a plus ie froyo/gingerman
Looked @ - Spice MI300 - LG Optimus One (My LG KC910 juz failed me so not very interested) - X10i (4" seems a little bulky) - Moto Defy (3.7" seems comfy but speaker issue not convincing) - SGS (Nice display, plenty of Custom ROMS, but $$$ even rm1.7k on maxis) - HTC Desire
Pls throw me some ideas and discussions~ More than welcome! Thx everyone!
Between your selection, SGS is the best but out of your budget. At your budget LG Optimus One is the most sensible choice, somemore can upgrade to gingerbread later. If LG is a NO for you, then x10i seems probable. Anyway, you check out the phones first before deciding.
LG seems nice as a package with everything in.. Juz not quite convinced especially with their repo on the Battery... LOL My KC910 random shutdown/reboot/low/no battery and the fon oly 2 years... Tho the 8mpx is awesome la
I've checked out X10i... Really feel bulky... and I liked the SGS... $$ wise really Any other phones that you may recommend to look at for consideration?
I am not really sure about other phones. My advice is if possible go for 1GHz CPU processor and at least 512Mb RAM. This will ensure your phone is smooth for all kind of games and apps out there.
Also your ROM preferably (not necessary) at least 1Gb otherwise you have limitations on the number of apps to install. Just check out there many desire users complain about lack of ROM, coz they only have 512Mb. SDcard expansion slot is necessary if ROM is small size.
As for Android, 2.2 is preferred. It will be a bonus if can upgrade to 2.3 later on.
Despite the above, I believe the determining part is still your budget. Go for the top range Android phone like SGS if can, otherwise go for the closest possible to the specs that I've written above.
Yes. SE X10 is a good phone. Fast processor, good camera but the downside is not multi-touch capable. If you can live with that, then this is the phone for you. Your alternatives will be samsung galaxy 3 and HTC Desire (a bit higher than your budget). Other types I am not too sure.
PS: You can check out the respective threads of phone for more information.

I know Samsung is the brand, aiye. Haha! Does it have push notifications for social networking or not? N if I have multiple email accounts, does this phone/OS support them so I will still get emails from all my accounts without hvg to go to the web browser to read them?
Thanks!
Yes. It has push notifications from facebook, if that is what you mean. And it also has push emails function from gmail, ms exchange and all your popular email accounts like hotmail and yahoo.
hi guys~ i want to ask, under 1k, android smartphone which is nice to use xperia x8 is very nice but camera i heard is bad x10 mini come with good camera but low resolution... if possible, i dun wan optimus one cause its LG @@
X8 seems better than x10 mini IMO. Camera good or not depends on what you use it for. IMHO, no phone camera can give you the level of satisfaction a real camera can.. If your camera is only use for sending mms pic, I think X8 or X10 mini can do the job well...
