1. Brand: Don't care, as long as fulfill criteria number 4
2. Budget: 3k
3. Specs: Don't care, as long as fulfill criteria number 4
4. What you need in the phone: Good user experience. Great performance. Something that not everyone and their aunty and their aunty's maid are all using.

Nexus S. go search nexus s in garage sales. Its a very new phone. Gonna release a few days before christmas. Go for the Gingerbread it has. Good performance too. 2.4k

Hmmm. Yea, that phone generated some interest for me when I first heard about it. Super AMOLED screen is a big plus for me. I didn't know it's already available in garage sales. AP set? Hopefully it will become available from local dealers with FMG warranty soon, like within this month. Now if it somehow magically come with N8's camera and HTC Sense UI, that'd be perfect. biggrin.gif

I've pretty much dropped the Nexus S to the bottom of my list, for a variety of reasons. 5 MP camera, no Micro SD card, retarded advertising, etc.

Any other recommendations?

hmm.gif Highest end phone you get now is the DHD which is quite shitty in battery life. The screen is only LCD iirc. Not good. You can wait for the LG Star next year which features dual core/8mp 1080p recording.

Well, after losing my Hero, I didn't get the Desire because at that time, word was the DHD was coming out "soon". Bloody hell, if I knew soon meant half a year later, I would have gone ahead and gotten the Desire and be done with it.

But now that the DHD is out, I'm not that impressed by it anymore, mainly because it took them so damn long to release it, potong stim already. Love became hate. shakehead.gif

I looked up LG Star, and yea it sounds good. But I hope it doesn't turn out to be another SGS which I was VERYCLOSE to buying - specs look good on paper only, didn't fully translate into good user experience. Guess I'll have to play with it myself before I decide to get it or not, or at least wait for more in-depth reviews, but yea, this LG Star is definitely near the top of my list right now.

Come on LG, don't be a moron like HTC. Just release the damn phone right here right now and let me take a look at it.

EDIT: But then again, Nexus S has that uncommon appeal. Like "you won't see this phone available in your common phone shop, you common peon" kind of appeal. LG, on the other hand, sounds like something that you buy when you cannot afford a proper phone (sorry LG users). I think for me to seriously consider buying the LG Star, it needs to be WOW. Like really WOW. Like "holy $%#@ where can i get one of that" kind of WOW.

I don't think there is a comparison between DHD and SGS at all.

Even the D minus the HD is already a better phone than SGS.

EDIT: Anyway, just sharing this out in public, I have three phones on my list right now - DHD, LG Star, Nexus S.

Nexus S- Plus: You get Gingerbread before anyone else. Probably a very good phone overall. Rare, not many people in Malaysia will be holding it. Minus: Gingerbread advantage is only temporary. Nothing about this phone really stands out. Warranty has to be claimed in US for now. Utterly retarded headache-inducing trailer video.

DHD- Plus: Probably the best Android phone available right now. Heck, probably the best phone overall available right now. Minus: Utterly and royally pissed me off by being made available so damn freaking late. Don't like the phone being associated with the Digi brand. Screen is only TFT, same as my Samsung G600 that I bought more than 3 years ago.

LG Star- Plus: From previews, looks like it's going to be an awesome phone. Like, really awesome. Minus: No confirmed date of availability. Could turn out to be another SGS, only good on paper. Branding issue with LG, LG phones sounds like something that high school kids will save their pocket money for a few months and then go buy.

Going to get either Desire White or Desire HD from senheng, since they have promo now
but can't choose which one to get. the prices for both phones are about the same.

any advice people?

DHD is the newer phone with its own pros and cons.

Desire is the popular phone but kinda old. already 10 months in market.

SO? dilemma.

Will you get Honda City or Honda Civic, if the price for both is the same?

Ok, then SGS vs DHD.  I guess SGS has the Super AMOLED for it and lagginess against it.  Anything else noteworthy?

I think the lag issue with the SGS can be fixed. One of my colleagues is using the SGS, and it seems blazing fast. No, I didn't ask him in detail what he did to fix it.

I suppose if you are the type who don't mind getting your hands dirty, the SGS might end up being the better device, though personally I cannot get over the plastic body.

Was wondering I need a new phone..... What is the cheapest and DECENT android phone that I can buy right now?

1. Brand: Anything.
2. Budget: Lower the better <600... In fact 500 is already too much......
3. Specs: At least 2.1 or 2.2 and can load Custom firmware (UNLIKE Motorola Mielstone) with a decent community support.
4. What you need in the phone: Decent multi touch, UI anything but not crappy, don't want QWERTY and the always hard factor: decent battery life.

PS: I know I doubt I can find an Android this cheap without it being problematic..... But I think u guys can try...........
