your family owns doesn't means you own it, have you personally used the Desire for months before judging it?

the processor on Desire is definitely faster, but not everyone will notice it,
its just like i5 vs i7 processor, when you are not utilizing the i7 to its max, it would just behave like an i5.
Yea, you can OC the processor, but have you really tested it?
FYI OCing your xt720 would drain the hell out of your battery, so what's the point?
You're saying 256MB of RAM is the same as 512MB of RAM?
so why do people even bother spending money to get more RAM on their PC?

plus, gaming? Just get an PSX Emulator, done. Why bother with sub-par 3D games?

Xenon Flash means it'll drain even more battery when you need flash, and you can't use it as a torch

oh and, the root support for Desire is way way better than xt720, there are many options of custom ROMS for it,
and most software support will take Desire into consideration first.

by the time froyo landed on xt720 (if ever), Desire user would be on Android 3.0 already

all in all, you get what you pay for, its pointless to argue which phone is better when the price range isn't even same.

Look at ur budget go for xt720 la bro..no regret

Both have its pros and cons..

for the wildfire
pros- cheap, compact, and uses sense UI, android 2.1 (i tink)
cons- poor screen resolution, and because of this, some apps might not be compatible

for the x10
pros- nice big screen, higher resolution, more apps should be supported as compared to wildfire, good camera (i would say the best camera of all currently available android fones)
cons- more expensive, android 1.6 only at the moment, timescape can be a little sluggish

so its up to u.. why dont u also check out the HTC legend. slightly faster processor as compared to the wildfire, also uses sense UI, better screen resolution, most apps supported, android 2.1 (sadly no 2.2 yet for this fone), and not very expensive (but more expensive than the wildfire tho)

you can also check out the motorola xt720, which is also a good fone, but if u plan on rooting and flashing to custom roms, if im not mistaken this fone does not allow that.. and the RAM on this fone is a little on the low side, but besides that, it is a good fone..

another fone would be the motorola milestone, good fone, but might as well wait for the milestone 2..

if ur budget can go higher, u can also check out the desire and the Samsung galaxy S..

overall, i would say tat if between wildfire and x10, i would personally go for the x10 coz i prefer larger screens, but do also take note of the HTC Legend

just to share my xt mehh bcoz not many knows abt this beast..many peoples know android is htc n samsung..their dont know wat is droid.......nevermind la bro!!..i only posting at my xt there..huhu..  

but what i know is x10 is really poor performance...pity on u buy nice camera phone but dont hav multitouch...still donut..but i heard eclair be landed soon..yaaaaaa!!!...sorry bro..no heart feeling...hehe..last word ...adioss!!

   

i know that 2.1 was on the way to x10, but i juz didnt noe whether its officially available yet.. and i didnt wanna mislead others because altho i sed the camera on X10 was good, i failed to mention that the performance on it is not as good as other fones..
and yes personally i feel that Sense UI has a better social media integration than the rest, i didnt say others cant, i juz sed tat Sense UI is better in that scenario.. come on, even my samsung Galaxy S has social media integration, and i still prefer the one on sense.. Come on, even on my old HTC G1 the first ever android fone, i could do social media integration with cyanogenmod.

i would say the only thing bad about the SGS is their software implementation.. in terms of hardware, they lead the pack (besides build and flash).

SGS with custom rom and lagfix is fantastic!

i juz sed that with custom rom and lagfix the fone is fantastic.
and honestly even without, i still can live with the lag.. depends on how u use ur fone.. coz for me, the lag wasnt that bad coz i didnt have that many apps, mebbe bout 70 apps oni while others using SGS keep from 100 to 150 apps..

it was samsung's fault about the lag, but no need to bash a fone solely because of its lag.. no fone is perfect, and ur beloved XT is nowhere near perfect either.

i wanted a more future proof fone, so i went with SGS, and honestly, i have zero regrets. Its screen and GPU is fantastic, no other android fone can match it, CPU is great, and has everything else i need.. I love to play games on my fone, and no other android fone run games as smooth, and the screen makes videos on the fone look awesome.. and besides that i use it for the basic functions like calling and sms, and theres no problem there either..

so, sure the lag sucks, and maybe samsung sucks as well, but to me, SGS is still a fantastic fone.

Dudeeee, seriously, what is ur problem?!?!? this is a recommendation thread, its not a fanboy thread. Did i even say that xt720 was bad? NO. i even said that xt720 is a pretty good fone even without custom roms.. so what the HECK is wrong with u? Im juz stating facts, and the fact of the matter is that Desire and SGS are considered high end android fones, which xt720 is still considered mid range.. and im even stating the limitations of the SGS and that he should choose his fone based on his needs and budget.

I know u love ur fone. But sometimes be a little open minded can anot? We are all android users, so why bash each other.

owh, and a recommendation thread wont work if an individual only talks about his/her current fone, questions wont get answered. So if one has used or has experienced the other fone, or even read tons of reviews from other users, or seen many videos on how well the fone functions, juz provide some input.

Just states your points..let the other forumers to decide which is their phone...dont have to argue

Can upgrade to 2.2, SE just haven't confirmed it. Devs at XDA are already working on froyo custom rom if you don't wanna wait for SE. Step into X10 thread to look at photo samples. Right now the experience with 2.1 is amazing plus it has high end specs at 1.1k ap set. It's a very underrated phone due to SE's stupidity in marketing their own product 

I doubt that SE will froyo upgrade to X10 series...............custom ROM maybe

yes, you can upgrade it to 2.1, can further root it and use custom rom to 2.2 but i not sure whether its stable or not yt.
