2 days ago visited gnc to buy lipo 6 black. as they dont carry this brand, the staff recommended hydroxycut hardcore. my jaw dropped upon seeing the price tag - member's price RM299. i knew that US store was selling around USD35.00 and lowyat members are selling around RM180. i would probably buy from gnc if they were selling at RM200 but RM299 is really too much. needless to say i left gnc and dump my member's card asap.

hydroxycut is like a new product to gnc.
any new products from gnc is gonna cost double of wat other sellers are selling.
apparently they need years to realise ppl do have other sources to purchase the product

i got no other choice than gnc. buying 5lbs whey from forumers plus postage sure reach 200+.
sumore, the price is not too difference than lowyat.net sellers here.
i see some are selling 5lbs on whey for 220! wtf?
i usually buy at gnc for 190 somthing.

the cash rebate is okay la i think.
i used it to buy multivits and power bars.
of course you dont get the membership discount for the rebate.
minus the rebate, you get it cheaper than the membership discounted price.

for me, i think GNC is much better choice.

1st point staff at GNC told me their product is more expensive becoz of "electricity, shop rent, to pay salary"

2nd point, he told me the cheaper product out there including LYN/facebook/blog/etc contains melamine and not quality / not original / may effect your system / etc... lol ... plus+ he said "at GNC we will assure the quality / originality of each product"

any comment people?

hah. i think u need to do more research man.
there are sellers selling at either rm180 or rm190. if u add another rm10, tat would b rm190 or rm200, right to your door step! some even offer flavours tat are not sold in gnc, how about tat!

1st point - have to agree.
2nd point - he said so bcoz he's working for gnc!!! so far, i havent heard of pirated supplement for bb'ing. so how can ON whey from LY b different from ON whey in gnc? while it's possible they can prove their products are genuine, can they claim tat other products sold here are not?

Hey. In my opinion, it's highly unlikely GNC would mix their product with other stuff, as compared to some questionable person you meet online trying to make a quick buck (not saying the sellers here are, don't get me wrong). But like you said, no one can prove that other products sold here/anywhere else aren't genuine.

mainly...i guess u get a reassurance feeling when u buy from a big chain shop...but it's those smaller competitions that can offer a much lower price cos less overheads...

frankly, i won't be surprised if there r fake protein powders...
for a quick dollar, u will b surprise how low a person can get.

get from trustworthy source n exercise ur own judgement

GNC is distributor for some products, if we take from them and resell back, automatically our product got melamine and degrade the quality kah...hehe...

First off, if you take a look at the similar products sold at retail stores and compare it with the pricing on stores at country of origin(mainly US), you can see the amount of difference is substantial. These are the listed prices, think of how much the stores are paying the manufacturers for bulk orders.

The extra costs comes in when there is shipping and handling of good..etc. Just because the people outside of GNC/other retailers can get the products for a much cheaper price(still not cheaper than net costs advertised in US retail stores), does not mean it is fake/contraband.

I would classify a 'trustworthy source' as one that satisfies me in terms of the money I pay for quality of service and product I get; not the source that has the most numbers of stores nationwide. If one feels happy paying GNC dollars for their products then so be it, but pointing that the alternative methods out there to obtain supplements are fake and scam is immature by such reputable corporations.
