mine is E1762. I don't think there is anything special with it.

Hmm, I don't think so. The speed is very inconsistent but that's because Maxis is sucky not problem with modem.

Anyway I think I'm getting 3G Networking HW553 or LevelOne WBR-6801, instead of the UM MiFi

I was told they are rm150 & rm130 each. Got another one, DIR 412. Cost less than 100 but it has got to be really bad because it's so cheap!

Signal strength is excellent, though my apartment is small so let's wait until I try it at my parents house which is twice as big. We'll see then!

They don't, I went to their shop at sunway pyramid and they told me no. the only way to test coverage is by getting their prepaid pack, which I think is fair enuf.

Before all I knew was MiFi (like UM's), but unfortunately they cost too much for me. So when i heard of 3G routers i went straight to get it because i've been wanting something like it for a long time and it's affordable. Very happy with it.
