I think for sceneries like in the 4th photo, you won't be able to overcome it in camera unless you have extra flash to light up the interior, or you use HDR. too bad LX5 doesn't have in camera HDR, it would have been awesome.

QUOTE(cyew86 @ Dec 5 2011, 08:48 AM)
thank you. i find that it's kinda hard to take a photo with balanced exposure in 4th's environment. i have taken a few, they would be either just nice on the subject, but too bright in the background, or too dark on the subject, but just right in the background. any advice on how to overcome this? unsure.gif

oh, that way. it's way too difficult and from my tests, it results in really washed out photos. doesn't look HDR to me.
the S95 has an in camera HDR and that is really nifty. Just set the camera on tripod, put on HDR mode and with one shutter click, it takes 3 shots, combines them and gives you a nice HDR. Wish the LX5 has an in camera HDR mode which is as easy to use.. smile.gif

1. Go to Menu.
2. Select Multi Expo.
3. Select Start.
4. Set EV to -2 and take the 1st picture.
5. Select Next.
6. Set EV to 0 and take the 2nd picture.
7. Select Next.
8. Set EV to +2 and take the 3rd and final picture.
9. Select Exit.

Not sure but if you want for lx3 just search for lx3 cap.

Yes ebay is free for buyers, just register and you can make payment via paypal, which in turns charges to your credit card.

When you search, try and sort by lowest price+shipping for malaysia, then look around for bargains. Only negative thing is delivery takes a long time, 1 week to 3 weeks sometimes...

I think you never experience much buying via ebay? Most of the stuffs i buy comes with free shipping!! wink.gif cap, camera pouch, screen protector, all free shipping and all below rm20 some below rm10 wink.gif

The item is cheap but not the shipping cost. When buy, always include the shipping cost and check the local price. Most of the time, it is not much different with the local price.

And most of the cheap item in eBay, the shipping cost is more expensive than the item.

Sorry getting out of topic, but since still related to lx5..... Try this

1. Register or login to www.ebay.com (yes, .com, not .com.my)
2. Search for the things you want, eg "lx5 cap"
3. On the results screen, click on the sort by and select price+location, then select malaysia
4. Then the results will now be listed cheapest first. It's a matter of selecting the best seller at this point. So far i've had no issues buying the cheapest listed, e.g. For lx5 auto close cap i can easily find $5.09 for white cap ( look for buy it now, not bid type of listing)

Have fun accessorizing your lx5!!

haven't you been following the discussions in past 1-2 pages? it's FREE SHIPPING.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Portable-Self-Reta...#ht_3144wt_1139

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Portable-Self-Reta...#ht_3519wt_1056

US$5.09 for white, US$5.99 for white.

it's about RM20 after conversion (but I got mine even cheaper at RM12 after conversion cause there was a listing for the same cap at US$3.xx a while ago)

Some people will buy from local, some ebay not an issue. I also bought an LX5 spare batt (3rd party - doesn't show the batt indicator but easily can shoot continuous video for more than 1 hour) for RM20 only. I haven't been able to find so cheap stuff for our LX5 locally.

I think you have to slowly troubleshoot and identify.

1. Take photo, does the photo look ok on the LX5 screen?
2. Copy to laptop using memory card, ok?
3. Copy to laptop using built in card reader, ok?

If #1 and #3 ok looks fine, #2 does not, then most prob is the card reader. If #1, #2, #3 also no good, try with another SD card and see. If ok, means the first SD card gone case or maybe try formatting it and see.

any lx5 owners here using it to record video? in A mode set to 2.0, do you get the lens flare/purple fringing?

anyone know if using a hood would eliminate or reduce this lens flare?

This is what I mean.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlAcAunxnac

This information is in the advanced manual page 235. did you check there? AVCHD lite will give you more recording time, Motion JPEG will be less plus limited to about 8 mins each clip. See here:

if you are open to second hand, I happened to see this recently...

http://www.mudah.my/Panasonic+Lumix+LX5+Ca...se-13421903.htm

not sure if this is THE famous kenny sia blogger, but as always, if you do buy 2nd hand, check everything and make sure you get the original receipt or at least make sure panasonic warranty still effective. then check the shutter count also to see how much it has been used....

I also bought 2nd hand LX5 few months back and so far so good. Bought at higher price than this RM900 some more but lower than 1k tongue.gif

disclaimer: i don't have any info on this seller, just happened to see it recently and I remember someone asking about buying LX5 in kuching so just sharing this info. do your own checks and buyer beware!!!
