Hello I have some questions~ \o\
I have a playstation 2 I bought online, and now I want to buy games
It works fine and all, and I've been playing some games that came with it
So now the question is....
I'm not sure what games to buy since they all have like, R1 R2 and things o-o
Common sense tells me in Malaysia it's R3
But on my manual it says PAL SCPH-77002/SCPH-77003

So I need some help identifying it - What should I buy? What's safe? What should I avoid?
Can I buy NTSC?

halp me ._.

Thanks in advance notworthy.gif wub.gif

R1 - US
R2 - Europe
R3 - Asia
R4 - Australia
hmmm......it never really occurred to me to check all those region stuff
you got me thinking alright biggrin.gif
what I normally do : go to the shop, see a nice title, buy it back home to play....
can't play bring back to shop, exchange for another....
U bought ur PS2 online...already modded unit? can play pasar malam game DVDs?
if it does - then u dun have to worry much, it'll play most games
If it doesn't.......hmmm hmm.gif ......get it modded

Safe to say it's PAL, meaning games from Europe/Australasian region only (unless your PS2 is modded)

Only 2 types.. NTSC/J or NTSC UC can play on players with NTSC..
PAL vertion must buy Pal Games...

Modded Pal can play 90% games..
While NTSC/UC/J is close to 100% can play all Games, especially the older Fat Vertion NTSC PS2...

It's a slim version
pasar malam DVD can play about 90% (my yakuza2 won't load the game SOB SOB)
but now it's not spinning, help?

Bought it 2nd hand, I don't think it's modded (there isn't any obvious implication like vx.xx xxxx or something

if its playable b4... it means can play.. if stop spinning means something busted... most probably the lens..

What should I do? Send to the shop? or is it something I can check myself first? THEN send to shop?

usually if the lens is almost dead... new game disc cannot read anymore... but can still run on old disc which u played on it before...

u can send to a game shop for repairs... usually they will check whats the problem... and let u know is it repairable at a decend price...

usually the common problems is the lens..
if its not.. then its the IC or the main circuit board which would be costly to repair and you will be advise to buy another console instead of repairing it...
