QUOTE(arcalius_7 @ Aug 14 2010, 09:01 AM) Morning all, wich version of nitroid are you using?? the skipping frame rate in the off menu of the phone is a known bug, hopefully will be fixed in next build, but still trippy. I had the same experience, and can def say that to run nitroid it has to be OC'd . There was a a very big difference, cos apps didn't crash, and the ui wasn't laggy anymore.I couldn't find astro file manager either, but try oi file manager from android market. its free and it works to transfer apk file to neccesary directories, Few days back I managed to dual-boot with android(thanks for the links provided). can run but sometimes abit laggy and buggy especially when I wan to turn off the phone. The menu will blink2 but it still accept my input to shutdown. haven't tried gaming yet since I cannot find astro file manager in Market All in all, I hope NITDroid dudes keeps progress until all functionality achieved. Right now they managed to enable data transfer via 3G iinm but still in testing phase. Maybe next time, I can follow n900 thread & android thread in lyn One thing that I notice is, the screen can be seen clearly eventhough I'm sitting under direct sunlight. I never feel so much worth as much as before! For those who this thinking wan or duwan this phone, just grab with your eyes closed and enjoy Anyone know how to access windows share? I dun see any smb package in App mgr And still, no VK or ukeyboard crash when using it. Sigh, so lazy wanna reflash to global FW, got tons of app already downloaded over there I'm still using vanilla kernel since i almost never face any lags or slows for a while. except for yesterday when I'm running duke nukem 3d which requires me to restart when it hangs. So sad since I realised no sound enhancement in this phone, I seldom listen my songs there. But I very happy to watch drama without conversion |

QUOTE(toocommon @ Aug 14 2010, 11:33 PM) hi guys ok first off, <kernel> is the kernel file ( meego-handset-armv5tel-n900-nokia-proprietary-1.0.80.13.20100803.2-vmlinuz-2.6.35~rc6-133.2-n900 ) it needs to be placed in the same folder as flasher i think. i9'm not too sure for flasher on the n900. i know in windows, just place in same folder and run command. as for ur sd card being unrecognizable,do you mean by via pc? or in n900?? did u mount the sdcard ( if it was unmounted )i've been trying to load and boot meego from micro sd following this instruction , but i can only make it until step 8: Click the "Write" button to byte-copy the image to the microSD memory card. im stuck at the step to run the flasher flasher-3.5 -l -b -k <kernel>, can anyone tell me how to do it? is <kernel> the name of the extracted image file (meego-xxx-xxx.raw)? or the full path to the file(c:\folder\folder\meego-xxx-xxx.raw)? <kernel> is the meego-handset-armv5tel-n900-nokia-proprietary-1.0.80.13.20100803.2-mmcblk0p.raw.bz2 image file? or the meego-handset-armv5tel-n900-nokia-proprietary-1.0.80.13.20100803.2-vmlinuz-2.6.35~rc6-133.2-n900 kernel file? im confused base on this link( u need to put in ur imei code to be able to go in) another problem is after i wrote the image to the micro sd, the micro sd file system become unrecognized, is this normal? im frustrated, pls thanks! |

QUOTE(toocommon @ Aug 15 2010, 01:58 AM) unrecognized by both pc and n900. how to mount? i assume by your answer you're using windows to flash right?? are u using xp or seven and is it 64bit or 32bit? flasher only works on win7 32bit so have to use virtualxp or some vmware.i place the kernel file in some folder, when i run the flasher command, i use full path...after that it shows something like "cannot find the suitable usb device. Waiting." thanks! the command to mount partition is: mount /dev/mmcblk1p1 but you shudn't need to mess around with that, just get the kernel flashed and boot up. |

QUOTE(toocommon @ Aug 15 2010, 02:35 AM) i tried both way to flash, by pc and in n900. sorry for the late reply bruda, as I was a lil busy at church today, ;Pnow i moved the kernel file to the same flasher folder already. im using win 7 64bit but there's no error when i run the flasher, the only thing is, it shows me "Suitable USB device not found, waiting." steps i take is , connect my phone to usb, then choose "mass storage" then in windows i run the command, is this correct? i also tried the cmd to mount the thing, but it shows me cant find /dev/mmcblk1p1 in /etc/fstab do i need to format my micro sd to a specific type of file system(ext3 ?) before i write the image into it? (currently using fat32) thanks! ok since you're using win 7 64 nit got a lil bad news for you lar bro. 64 bit is not supported by the flasher app ( some issue with the usb drivers )there won't be an error msg, but it just stops at "Suitable USB device not found, waiting." ,so u need to either run it using a pc using xp or win7 32 bit, or you need to install virtual xp , and run flasher while you're inside it, then you shouldn't have any issue with the flasher detecting your phone. as for your sdcard, i had a look on the meego site abt meego installation, and i don't think you need to worry abt the sdcard format. my guess is its in ext3 form, so it won't read in windows, but if you had no error msgs when writing the image to the sdcard, u shudn't worry yet. Added on August 15, 2010, 11:31 pm QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Aug 15 2010, 11:07 PM) i agree with aspire here. not sure which app gives an acuurate reading, but you can either try the batt app widget apsire mentioned, or use a desktop command execution widget. QUOTE(toocommon @ Aug 16 2010, 11:22 PM) same tahi "cant find suitable device. waiting" u tried on a win xp pc or virtual xp??? hmmmmmm, this is common issue when flasher cannot access you're usb ports. is your phone in R n D mode?? or just plug in normal???using win7 32 bit already. frustrated. tried also win xp same thing >.< sien sai Don't give up yet, this phone sometimes memang frustrating, but when you finally get it working, the rush is worth it, hehe. Its probably some small detail you're not doing right or missing. First time trying to flash my phone took 1 day , and drove me almost kuku. Now tho, can format/repartion my sdcard, flashing takes like 1 min, and easily can boot up linux live , or xp in virtua mode on my pc. QUOTE(toocommon @ Aug 17 2010, 01:56 PM) i tried win xp pc. i plug in like normal usb device, in "storage mode", i duno about r n d mode. ahhh, bro, u need to put it in r n d mode onli then flasher can detect it. ( with ur phone off, and usb cable not connected to pc, open keyboard, hold 'u' button and connect usb. the blue nokia logo will come up, but in top corner there is a usb symbol as well.pls allow me to describe my steps: 1. i unzip the .raw image, the nokia proprietary version. 2. i used the win32diskwriter to write the image to my mmc, via the phone in storage mode(usb). 3. then i move the kernel file into the same directory as the flasher in my pc. 4. i run the command, flasher-3.5.exe -l -b -k kernel then it gives me the "waiting for device" thingy >.<!! by the way, by installing the froyo, it replaces the phone os? or can it be loaded from mmc only? thanks!!! however from your comment i'm confused? do you want to install froyo ( nitdroid 0 or meego? u can install nitdroid ( froyo ) as a dual boot with maemo, but meego requires a complete flash. its only for testing right now. Don't flash unless you're sure you know what os you're trying to install. Added on August 17, 2010, 11:49 pm QUOTE(stimix hackers @ Aug 17 2010, 01:49 PM) Follow the step..but this warning appear you need to install bzip2 first. QUOTE(toocommon @ Aug 18 2010, 12:34 AM) hi , i didnt know about r n d mode until now. XD so far only froyo and maemo can dualboot. Afaik, after meego installation, cannot dual boot maemo, using the mmc installation method, it boots meego but it reverts back to the maemo kernel upon reboot ( from what i can see from the flasher script, its a 1 time temp flash, allowing the maemo kernel to be releoaded upon reboot ) . Anyway i'm not too sure cos, i haven't tried meego yet as the version out has few functions, and is mostly for dev testing at this moment in time. I would suggest just trying the froyo installation ( check out my latest post above, there is now a very easy to use auto installer. you need a good wifi/3g data connection, and you need, 'wget' and 'bzip2' to be installed, and its quick and easy ) took me abt 10 mins yesterday ( minus the time to download the new nitdroid rootfs )im trying to install meego, then may be froyo. i thought can dual boot meego and maemo, keep maemo as main os and run meego from mmc? QUOTE(toocommon @ Aug 18 2010, 09:32 AM) hi, the 1 time temp flash is exactly what i want, i dont want to replace the default os, i juz want to try something new and keep the default one. ok did some checking for you. if you install meego, u need to reflash to use maemo. If you install froyo( android ) you can load it anytime, and can revert back to mameo os ( supports overclocking with titan kernels as well )so the froyo installation will flash away the default os? or can i juz load it anytime i want and revert back the original maemo os when i want to? thanks |
