Why buy?

Owns Glenmarie, and tonnes of land bank (including Proton's landbank currently)
Owns brands such as Honda, Lotus, Suzuki, Audi, Proton, Volkswagen, and currently is the biggest automotive manufacturer in Malaysia
One of the biggest defense contractors in Malaysia, with SAAB JV havent been announced yet
The cheapest priced, biggest conglomerate in Malaysia currently.
Have a lot of smart people working on their board of directors
Financials and books look great (don't ask me how i know)

Dividends expected to be announced this month (Aug 2012)

Current trading at prices lower than before Proton deal was completed (previous high of RM3.30, now trading at 2.55 ::: as at 15/8/2012)
P/E of below 4

Currently, selling Uni Asia is just side show, while they prep up for the biggest move, since DRB ate PROTON.

This time, to relocate assembly to Tanjung Malim plant (as evident in pumping RM1 billion to develop Proton City)
Then only can develop current landbank owned by Proton in Glenmarie. Estimated GDV should be more than RM10 billion.

(Reuters) - Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) labor representatives would not back any further acquisitions by the carmaker, especially of Malaysian firm Proton PROT.KL, the works council chief told a German newspaper.

Europe's largest carmaker is considering either a minority holding in Proton, the owner of UK sports-car manufacturer Lotus, or a controlling stake to tap demand in growing southeast Asian markets, sources told Reuters in July.

VW, which surpassed Toyota (7203.T) last year to become the world's second-biggest car maker, has been scooping up brands including Scania (SCVb.ST), MAN (MANG.DE), Porsche (PSHG_p.DE) and Ducati in recent years as part of an effort to overtake General Motors (GM.N) at the top of the industry by 2018.

"We already have 12 brands and we first have to stabilize the group," Bernd Osterloh told Handelsblatt in an interview to be published in the paper's Monday edition.

"Even though further sales and production sites in south-east Asia are important, there is no support from the labor side for a purchase of Proton."
