Argh! You guys are really making me want to buy this game. Its crazy!! Hmmm ... maybe I'll drop by at SS2 later ...

Hmmm just to confirm, what are new updates? Although there are no monthly fees we have to worry about but we do have to pay for new updates. Does this mean new additions to the game (ie new maps) or does this also include patches and bug fixes? If these are answered somewhere or on the main website can you provide me the link please? For some reason I'm thinking "There must be a catch there somewhere" kinda thing.

Yeah you need to be a ranger. Doesn't matter if its your primary or secondary class though.

Actually if you have to talk about dumb characters, my bets on warriors. I mean seriously, most of the storyline mission parties I have been on are usually crapped by the warriors. Why? Simply because they like to charge headlong into the fray. Well, you won't be doing that anymore when you first encounter the mersaats or the jade armours. At the beginning, yeah it is safe to do that since most of the monsters are weak anyway but later on, the splinter cell approach suddenly comes into focus.

And come on, don't aggro things unnecessarily. You have that aggro circle thingy in your compas/map/GPS thing for god's sakes. And I always wonder why people would like to charge 2 teams of monsters instead of waiting for at least 1 of them leaving. For the icing on the cake, I love to see when monks, mesmers or elemenatlists head the charge into the fray ... alone. Geez suddenly they think they are tankers and immortal?!?

Ok, end rant.

Official statement from China GW site: http://www.gwbbs.com.cn/news/ChinaJoy3-GW-Eng.html

If you are lazy to click here's a shameless copy and paste:

China Digital Entertainment EXPO & Conference (China Joy) held in Shanghai China for 21st~24th July. Guild Wars was presented by Sina, the partner of NCsoft in mainland China. According to Sina, Guild Wars plans to be released in China at the end of this year.

Sina had set a small 'Guild Wars theatre' at their exhibition booth. The Sina staffs show the gameplay and some animations for Guild Wars. They also prepared Guild Wars T-shirts, posts and game animation CD for the visitors.

During the presentation, we expect that the Chinese localization of Guild Wars will come soon. Some Chinese traditional style scenes and armours added to Guild Wars look more easternizing. We can surprisingly find the Great Wall in the game! By the time Guild Wars be launched in China, it will get a new Chinese name: Ji Zhan, meaning 'drastic wars'!

In a nutshell, its localized content for GW China version.

well i'm lucky i just found a +28 health pommel
would it be worth it to slap it in there?
or would people prefer a perfect +30 pommel?
those pommels are just so expensive though...the difference between +29 and +30 is like 100k shocking.gif

Seriously I wouldn't waste that upgrade on the sword. The sword does have some very cool stats but the -10 to armour when attacking really drops the price. Although the sword can be sold 200k the highest (IMHO), you would still be hard pressed to find people who would buy it that high. Thats just my opinion though, you can still try and sell that sword in LA and hope for the best. But I still stand on my opinion that you shouldn't waste that fortitude pommel on the sword.

Thunderclap does rock but it is such an energy drainer. Need to plan ahead before using this skill.

Yknow imo I just dont get it. Why sell/buy weapons for obscene amount of gold when u can just go and explore for it? I mean okay, some items are really rare I get it; but speakin as a guy who hasn't done much gold farming (I dont have the time to spend hours farming), asking me to drop 7k for a sword pommel or watever is a joke... I'd much rather explore and get it as a drop for free... just as u did...

Not that I'm dissin anybody or anything, and I'm sure there are players with the gold to spare but... I just find the high prices a lil... much... yknow?

One guy was askin minimum 70k for this Gold Earth/Fire magic wand; as an ele I could have used it; but dang! 70K? lol I'll go explore for it thanks...

I just get the impressions that ppl are just gettin too greedy now :S

That is partly correct. There are uber hard stats to get on a max damage weapon (or offhand for that matter) just by wishing that it would drop. Although most people do look for the max suffix and prefix modifier, the smart buyers are usually looking for items with the sought after max additional modifiers (ie +15% damage >50% hp that you can't get from collector's). The said item is even more pricey if its on a rare item (ie fellblade, fiery sword). Usually the famous ones are the stats you get on shields (ie hp+20-30, received damage-1/-2 while in stance/enchanted) since you can't upgrade shields and only hope for drops. But some people are really lucky on their drops and they get godly items (godly terms are usually used when there are more than 1 maxed stat on the said item). Another matter to take into consideration is supply and demand. For instance, there aren't many people who have max vampiric bow string and are not using it. Which is why, if they sell, they usually do so at a very high price.

Anyway, if you want to check out on item modifiers (if you want to know if its maxed or not), you can do so here: http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=125

Bring Lina or take someone who plays a protector monk. They will help decrease the damage you are taking.

Hmmm rangers are a very fun to play IMO. Granted that its hard for you to get into teams but they are an advanced to play anyway. Being a marksman however, is solely dependant on what secondary class you are using. Let me tell you, with the right secondaries, your dps (damage per second) can even be higher than a warrior's!

My r/e soloed 2 hulks (Hells precipice. It spawns after you kill the titan) and managed to kill one before dying. Btw, winter is your friend in that map.

Ok the armour thing is pretty easy. First off this only applies to the knight/ascalon armour. As we all know both of those armour have inherent effects which is damage reduction. The fortunate thing is you only need 1 piece of the armour and it will apply that damage reduction globally. The unfortunate thing is, that means that having a full set is highly redundant since one piece already effects all. Which also means the damage reduction is not stackable among the knight/ascalon armour.

However, it does stack with the absorption rune. The max absorption you can get is -5 damage reduction which is -2 from the knight/ascalon armour part and -3 from a superior absorption rune. The gist of it is, all you need is 1 armour part of knights/ascalon to get a global -2 damage reduction and it stacks with your absorption rune.

Unfortunately, this only applies to those said armours. The defence for armours like elemental's are piece specific. So an aeromancer chest plate only gives extra protection against air damage on that area. The energy you gain from those armour pieces however are stackable.

Hope that explains it.

Btw since you are interested of the gladiator armour set here's a pic of my character with the 15k armour set.

And also i find it hard to deal with the ranger poison used by wa/r (my team in aschalon got trash my them) any pointer for me? Still noob...juz know that i can salvage drops in the game...at 1st thought only highly salvagable can be salvage  sweat.gif

Actually those rangers aren't supposed to have poison skills for that arena. They were mostly ran to further places to get that skill. The closest poison skill is apply poison which is obtainable by the trainer in Ascalon settlement. That is located near Lion's Arch. Btw, the low level arenas are unbalanced due to this. I bet most people in the ascalon arena's are already wearing the droknar's endgame armours.

guys, I think I have done all the quest in Pre-Searing (phew! :sweats:) and I'm at level 7... I heard from someone said that it's nightmare to go Post-Searing if we do not have good equipment...

So my concern is what do I need to check before I go Post-Searing?

Let's see I have done almost all the quest... change all my newbie armor to better ones (through the Collectors)... anything I overlook? unsure.gif

Many thanks~
*
Hmmm you have done everything that should be done. Go ahead and do the academy quest to get to post searing. Don't worry about PvP, its all about the luck of draw. I went post-sear yesterday with my lvl 4 n/r (got all pre-sear skills and armour) and went into the arena with a team full of henchies against a team of 2 players and 2 henchies. I thought I was toast but the opposite happened and I won. So no worries and just do your best.
