QUOTE(D@Ne @ Nov 4 2010, 06:03 PM) The first picture.. at the right seems neat... only the left side seems messy.. maybe if you get lower to the eye level... can give a better picture than it is. Anyway nice thinking of the tilt shift in a way |

QUOTE(shady78 @ Nov 25 2010, 02:32 PM) its not the rules, its your rules.. +1 street photo means no rules, no permission, its comes from what ur looks from ur eyes and shoot.. spontaneuos! thats the rules! how the heck can it be candid when ask permission? Not many people are fond of BW which means color will be giving a different perspective rather than just BW The only 1 rule that you stated, that I can understand is the "Don't be rude. Smile always." which not many people doing that, at least to what I observed lately This post has been edited by ComradeZ: Nov 25 2010, 02:41 PM |

I like this 1.... she is very talented indeed... and her style is so out of the box. People will usually tell how good a picture is but she is telling how good a picture is + story behind it as well.

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Dec 3 2010, 11:48 AM) Too over oof liao. lol it is up to 1 preference.... same goes to the one called "definition of a good picture".....most people think that by attracting people to see his picture is a good example of a what good picture is..... but a true good picture got something to do with emotion and something deep and art.Back to the topic.. there's one intriguing point mentioned in that thread. A good pic is one that can the attention of the viewer for 10-15sec. Now THAT'S HARD to achieve!! Like Steve Mccury's well-known picture that capture my heart..."Afghan Girl" though it seems like 1000000000x other portrait picture but what makes it special is the atmosphere and expression of the picture have you seen a picture and while you skip it.... it will be in your mind and you kept thinking of what does that feeling gives to you? I've watched my sifu's personal collection.... and it is hard to describe the feeling of seeing it....but theres alot of things behind those pictures This post has been edited by ComradeZ: Dec 3 2010, 02:21 PM |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Dec 3 2010, 02:43 PM) Ya... emotion, deep and art.. or as we say it in tok kok sessions... got the "feel" ar. hehe and you are taking picture for people or for you? if it is for client.... then yes I will do according to them... but because of it is for hobby... I rather take picture for me and if people appreciated it like my friends that had seen my pictures, it would be bonus for me.. since that "feel" people can experience it too.But yet different people have different interest, like for example... the bokeh balls thing. It seems that you feel strongly about that pic but I don't even know what is that... because I'm not you. Same goes with my pics.. when I show some of my fav pics to my wife.. she's like "WTF is that". Without being vague... how to methodically explain a "good picture"? ps: Reading "Photographer's Eye" now. Recommended. yep different people different perspective or somewhat thinking differently.... that is human... if there is 100 people doing 100 almost the same picture... then where is the originality and individuality? and also... if people don't like my pictures, I get it because people are different. There is a saying from a guy I idolized in photography "Love your picture no matter what it is, improve if you think you need to improve, because in the end, those pictures photograph your own unique thoughts" |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Dec 3 2010, 04:59 PM) In essence... your saying "fak it... just shoot it" huh? lol well you must ask yourself.... what "you" want in "your photo"? people mixing thought into it? or is it about you taking a photo of what you think is cool or right.Btw, the snatch situation in Malaysia that bad now kar? They have biiiiiiig dof advantage though... pre-focus lor. and for me, I like to pre-visualize my own shot or imagine it then search for it then shoot. Though before I am more leaning towards PnS but now... if I were alone and were to compose my own... I would pre-visualize it first... like some of these photos... yes I prefer taking portrait shot even-though I know that I'm on the street FB LQ upload » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

Actually for street photography, it is all about how you observe the surrounding around you. It is somehow like you want to tell a story but which story are you intending to tell? or is it about the interesting things that you just saw infront of your eyes while you're on the street.
Picture quality are always on the last place for street photography. Whats important is that, what you can grasp from your walkabout. and what I can tell you is that, no matter what kind of camera that you're using... [previously I always shoot with phone camera which is convenient to me] it is all about the story and interestingness of your photography that matters. |
