There are a few chinese inputs, one is built in, change input to the built in IME or download google IME. Either works.

You press your finger, then hold
then a menu will pop up and you can select input method there
From there just select google IME.

Just to confirm. SGS is supposed to be able to play all kind of videos except RMVB right? I can't seem to play .mkv. I'm using the default player. Any particular reason? Btw i'm using the default player.

I'm very new to android world (coming from WM6.5, HTC HD) and have learned a lot from this forum (treat V1 & V2). I would like thanks ppl like hihihehe, alfredtwl etc for providing so many info on SGS.

I plan to buy SGS this week and would like to ask few question;

1) When android 2.2 (Froyo) is out, if Samsung does not official upgrade SGS to android 2.2, can we just download and install Froyo ourself (maybe Touchwiz3.0 may be over written, correct me if I'm wrong)?

2) understand that before we can install custom ROM to android, we need to root the os, for Modoca R2, is it we no need to root the OS as the rooting is built into the custom ROM?

3) If i use ADB to root, I understand all the step except step 3 'Enter Code adb reboot recovery', where do I type in the 'adb reboot recovery'?

1. is this phone got voice navigator GPS?
2. is it can read PDF files? if can batt last how long for reading pdf?

FYI, the will be another roadshow, either lowyat or the curve.

I called Maxis to enquire about any further roadshows, but they said no more for West Coast, only left East Coast, Sabah & Sarawak only. But one guy told me that now their current promotion is discount on Android casing for the phone, but he doesn't seem to know the details. Can anyone shed some light?

I think Samsung will start selling in a few months, because I got Samsung's newsletter for the Samsung Galaxy S Life competition, have to make a video, 3 SGS to be won. In the brochure, the RRP is also RM2599, so get the phone from Maxis + data plan still cheaper than buying from Samsung/other sellers + data plan, unless one doesn't want the data plan, of course.

Any smartphone without data plan nowadays are pretty much useless imo, you cant do anything with it. Just a waste, might as well use nokia 1200
Question, if you choose extra RM50 for data plan, and get it at RM900 cheaper than RRP, isn't it still worth it? After 1 year of using, u only pay extra 12x50=RM600 for the data plan, and the overall price of the phione is still cheaper than RRP.

i used my phone this morning fully charged, wifi in the meeting in the morning, at 2pm, it left 25% only, i make 10mins call only, is tat normal??? i off the auto brightness already...kill background program as well.

I don't know how to completely turn it off lea.. I'm using 500mb only that's why I worry... I want switch to Digi unlimited plan after 12 months...

That's y I choose the 1.5gb plan, I on 24/7 now only around 450mb used in 2wks, so if I were to go for the 500mb plan it wont be worth it. Wif 1.5gb, I just pay xtra 20/month which is only 240/yr. If I were to take the 500mb plan n exceed my usage I would have easily over shoot the rm240 treshold
D igi plan is also 68/month equivalent to maxis 1.5gb plan, so to be safe I strongly recommend user to take the 1.5gb plan

think twice before you use the mobile AP function if you do not sign up for an unlimited data plan.

can you imagine if your pc downloaded a 1G movie with you 3G limited plan? RM0.005 per kb... 1G = how much?
