Does your computer even recognises that a device is connected?
Does your phone charge when connected? |

QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Jul 31 2010, 10:03 PM) Yesterday just paid RM180, and now RM90 balanced. Then I get SMS from Maxis said something my billed is 90% from the credit limit and if I don't pay, my line will get suspended again. Damn I am not on any data plan, thus I turn off my data. No unexpected bills then. I only use the data when I need to. To an earlier question regarding if I am on 2G/3G or wifi on all the time. Wifi on whenever I am at home, or am at the coffeeshop that has wifi. My home has bad 3G, so I turn off 3G because if the signal drops and it switches to 2G, i think it consumes more battery attempting to lock onto the 3G signal. So I turn off 3G. I only turn on 3G when I do not have wifi and need to surf the net. |

The battery life is great actually, you can check what is eating your battery life. For me, it's always the display. So I turn it down to lowest brightness which is plenty bright for indoor use.
Some android apps are heavy. So you might wanna check out the size before downloading. Added on July 31, 2010, 10:25 pm QUOTE(silentser @ Jul 31 2010, 10:23 PM) im sure people from XDA read about this, The keyboard holds no problems for me. I use 1 handed thumb swiping when i am walking. No problem whatsoever.does all this problem is faced by our Galaxy S too? anyone could clear up the galaxy name? I'm using one of the earliest firmwares. I really don't see much of those issues.
Lag can be solved by using a memory manager, because the stock android memory levels are way low. Setting it to a more conservative 40mb min is better. Added on July 31, 2010, 10:31 pm QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Jul 31 2010, 10:28 PM) Early firmware has this problem. If you flashed to a newer firmware, you won't find this problem (well most of it lah) I gripped the lower portion and my signal went up. Added on July 31, 2010, 10:29 pm If u try grip the below of SGS, you'll notice that your signal is drop. Moving around the grip position, I see no 'weird' changes. QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Jul 31 2010, 10:36 PM) how long and how tight? I gripped as tight as my 1 hand can sustain for 1 minute and nothing. So I really don't get it... During day to day use, I don't wrestle with the phone or attempt to strangle it for the matter, I hold it and make it stable so it doesn't fall out of my hand. The GPS works fine for me, I disabled the IP based location setting. I got a GPS lock quite fast. |

QUOTE(silentser @ Jul 31 2010, 10:44 PM) does it mess up the signal if in poket?? or make your calls drop? I receive calls/sms in my pocket. and I use a case, and I put it in a pouch. and my primary concern and look like many of i9000 owner avoid this question is.. the GPS. can it work or not? No dropped calls when calling either if I am holding it, or if it's in my pocket, using a case and in a pouch while I use a bluetooth headset. Hope this answers your question. Added on July 31, 2010, 10:52 pm QUOTE(silentser @ Jul 31 2010, 10:50 PM) thank you leo for answering the question, i think better i find someone who can let me test the phone well before buying thanks again The location thing, may have had a problem with wifi IP identification. If I just use pure GPS location finding, it always identifies me at the right location. Using google maps. This post has been edited by MYstombox: Jul 31 2010, 10:52 PM |

I mean I use GPS without Wifi to get my location. -> They use IP address to aid in fixing a location. So if the server has an issue, then you will be routed to some weird location. I use only GPS to lock location, no problem.
But wifi or 3G are used to load the map. If you need navigation, there is papago x5. |
