basically htc user seek the ROM suitable for themselves. I categorized it into 3 group. Speed & Stability | Awesome UI | Extra widget.

For me speed & stability is more imperative for me. I dun like my phone keep lagging..

but back then when i am using HTC Desire, i prefer HTC Sense over stock android but during that period, cyanogenmod was not stable yet for Desire, and MIUI does not yet exist for Desire.. and how users have tons of more choices.. even HTC Sense rom has controls on the notification bar like what Evo 4G modded into

Ya, i know. I checked cyanogenMod, no suitable ROM for DHD yet, so i think i stick to HTC sense 1st if i get the phone.

better to wait for a more stable Clockwork Recovery 1st (rom manager support).. and also, it would be awesome if there is a one click root like unrevoked where the recovery will be replaced permanently rather than we need to S-OFF and push the recovery manually.. those leads to a high possibility of bricks.. those steps should be done carefully blush.gif

jz a suggestion. biggrin.gif

maybe when the new V2 is up, some of the root & mod sifus here can post a step-by-step noob friendly guide on how to root DHD and flash custom ROMs too. Would really help all the noobies like me to enjoy the Android experience more. wub.gif

more stable? nandroid is not sufficient? There was a one-clicked root app in android market but have been revoked due to some reason. The app is called VISIONary something. But just a TEMPROOT app. If really need to permroot DHD, quite a number of steps to go through, and certain technical level of knowledge required, atleast some linux command. u can google for it.

the clockworkmod for Desire HD is not yet in ROM Manager and its not yet official yet.. there would be an official release soon once they have some issues and bug fixed.. that is why when G2 got clockworkmod recovery it was announced by blogs, cuz its an official stable release.. for DesireHD, its not totally as stable as what they call an official release yet..

i do know about Visionary and those permaroots.. but for now, in order to push a custom recovery to your phone.. the device needs to be S-OFFed.. it means that you will have to downgrade the bootloader back to engineering Hboot which is S-OFF (means that you can flash through anything without bring signed by HTC via fastboot/recovery).. the s-off method is do-able but risky.. i would have to say a one click softwarre like Unrevoked does those all for you in an easier manner.. it will also check everything to ensure everything needed is there and will be flashed nicely
