i guess that only applies after they play it for first 10 minutes after flash to official firmware..

try install back all the apps(above 50 apps) and see how the performance goes..
and i the connection speed is slower compare to eclair(not sure why)..

but better discuss this on SGS thread...

i am holding back selling off my SGS . Just wanna see how the official Froyo will perform. Tested 2 unofficial Froyo roms and disappointed, do not find any major improvements. The lag and slow launch of programs is still there, only marginal improvements

The SGS was great and still is the king. The only reason people would sell it is because they expect a better software but some users dosent care as long as that phone is capable of performing intense jobs such as great graphic experience and such. I guess people selling the SGS to get DHD is not quite an update since the SGS is still the king of android powerhouse. The Desire HD upgrade would only be worthit if one is a fan of HTC Sense or wishes to have a bigger screensize
*
I agree that the SGS is king just soley based on its hardware specs. But its software implementation is really poor. If one ever used the Nexus or Desire , the difference is very obvious. Even my present Dell Streak and old HD2 on Android performs better than it. Samsung needs to put in lots of effort to catch up on its software.

i try the speaker with same song/volume with SGS and iphone 3g and find that iphone perform better sound that SGS..at least for me..

If one is very concerned about sound quality especially on audio/video : there is actually one choice - iPhone. Apple had "perfected" this based on their experiences with their iPods. This is one of the reasons I am keeping my iPhone - just solely to watch videopodcasts

No, I'm importing it into japan. Still have to live here until march next year. And owh, didn't know i have to pay a tax to import a phone for my personal use. Thanks for telling!  biggrin.gif

I think I'll cancel my purchase with clove and ask someone to buy it in malaysia and ship it here to me. At least they can check the phone beforehand to make sure there aren't any problems before sending it here. I'm afraid I might get the proximity sensor error if I use the european version. Even though the OTA update should have fixed it, some at the xda forums claim they are still experiencing the problem even after applying the update. Better safe than sorry.

Some info for you about using mobile phone in Japan as I undertsand there is no or lacking GSM network in Japan: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2223.html

Do foreign phones work in Japan?

Due to different technologies, mobile phones from your home country may not work in Japan. Most importantly, there is no GSM network, so GSM phones do not work. There are two things that are required for your telephone to work:

1. Compatibility with the Japanese mobile phone network - The only foreign phones that work in Japan are some 3G models, however the number of compatible phones is increasing. Contact your service provider for details concerning your particular phone.

2. International roaming plan or rental SIM card - With an international roaming plan (from your home service provider) you use your own phone and number, but are charged international roaming rates which tend to be expensive. Alternatively, with a rental SIM card (from a Japanese provider) you use your own phone with a Japanese phone number and lower rates.

Do Japanese phones work outside of Japan?

Many phones that are sold in Japan can operate on 3G and GSM networks (only in certain countries) with the appropriate international roaming plans, although while overseas some of their advanced functions will likely not work. This means that a person with a handset and service provided by a Japanese mobile phone carrier can roam when travelling outside of Japan.

Generally speaking it is not possible to use a Japanese phone with a foreign service provider due to network differences and because the handsets are locked. Japanese carriers do not unlock handsets. Also, Japanese phones are designed at a hardware and software level to work with only a particular network. As a result they are not interchangeable even between Japanese service providers and some of their features are disabled when used off of the network they were intended for.

liang wor..nexus one benchmark still tops..haha

I'd say the NexusOne is the BEST android phone I have ever used. I sold it off to get a Galaxy S ( mainly cos the bigger screen) and I regretted it after using the SGS a few days. The SGS is the worst android phone I have used so far even after root/apply lag fixes and tried several roms inckuding Froyo. Even my HD2 on android and present Dell Streak gives better performance than the SGS.

Serious hardware issue just like the current SGS?  hmm.gif hmm.gif

The SGS has no hardware issues ONLY poor implementation of software loading, execution from it's built-in internal memory. GPS I also believe is software related. There were times I do get excellent and quick immediate gps lockup but mostly have to wait up to half to a minute or so

Peter Chou juz have to learn from steve Jobs about marketing. When Steve launch a product it is always ready at all the countries listed. As for HTC at launch, actual availability dates are always unclear and which countries will be in the first list is also unknown. Everyone is left guessing.
HTC might have a great product but such uncertainty of availability will just kill off potential buyers. Initial interest will eventually die off. Sad, sad, sad.
Meanwhile those still interested, just have to wait. I will get mine from Spore once available as is only 1.5 hours away from my place

all those defects are those i must bear with, i dont have a smartphone and im still paying my 1.5GB data plan monthly eventhough im not using it since i sold my desire ==" ..  if DHD is on sale for purchase before mid dec or b4 christmas, ill grab it... hopefully it will be on sale as soon as launched next week

a good thing i like about desire HD is the large screen.. only 4inch phones i will consider buying now after using desire.. im so used to my dad's SGS so 4inch and above is what im sticking with from now on i guess.. hopefully not getting a defect set

I am in same league with you. I like big screens phone. Actually all the talk that the DHD is big is not an issue with me. You will get used to it over just a few days.

My first big screen phone experience was the HD2 ( 4.3"). When I bought the Nexus ( a great and I'd say best Android I have used ) I find the 3.7 inch too small. So I traded in for a bigger screen 4" Galaxy S ; a mistake I make and regretted . Sold the SGS after a month and bought the Dell Streak 5". Even at 5" I find is very pocketable. Now I don't think I can even use back any 4.3" model. Some how the experience and feeling is different once you are used to a bigger screen. Screen display quality is not so important for me - LCD is good enough. If it comes with SLCD, Amoled, or S Amoled then I will consider it a bonus

There is not much point now debating about the actual display type, whether is SLCD of LCD/TFT whatever. Just wait for the actual launch tomorrow - then we will know what we will be getting in Msia

Go and see/judge for yourself whether the display quality is good enough for you. If it is, then good. If you deemed it inferior and screen display is an important criteria - I will suggest you consider the Samsung Galaxy S or the other dark side iPhone 4. I must say the SGS display is fantastic , in my opinion looks better, more dazzling, crisper and sharper colors than the iPhone 4 ( I compare with my son's Spore bought unit ). But the SGS carries along with it several weakness which I will not elaborate anyore
