If the Desire HD is not at least SLCD, then it will be a marketing disaster. I myself for sure will not accept a TFT Desire HD. I think many others will have the same feeling especially current Desire owners who are considering to upgrade to HD. Downgrading from Amoled to SLCD already not sound nice, can't accept at all if the Desire HD screen be downgraded further to TFT.

I have exactly the same thought - HTC will sure highlight the screen quality if it is good. But if they just give a vague description, most likely it will be the worst TFT.

Looks like I will need to wait further for upgrading my current Desire. Android on nVidia dual-core Tegra 2 build by HTC early next year, anyone?

the price is out at Singapore!!! The SRP is SGD888 - about RM2,087 only, even lower than Desire's SGD898 when it was first debut in Spore. Street price would be much lower i think. I was actually expecting SRP to be SGD988 since Desire's SRP is SGD898.

yes, a lot of ppl attended the launch (london and taiwan) stated the screen is TFT. Of course there are some others who stated it is SLCD. I think most likely is TFT although I really hope that it is at least a SLCD.

this is not the same as Desire case. Desire is using SLCD because the AMOLED supplier cannot keep up with the demand of HTC for AMOLED screen. Thus HTC goes for the SLCD.

Of course we are not expecting AMOLED for Desire HD. I think because there is no 4.3" SLCD in the market yet, so most ppl believe the screen will be TFT like the EVO and HD2 with 4.3" screen. But who know Desire HD will be the first 4.3" SLCD device out there. Let's just cross finger.

I will treat it like a micro-size computer/PDA rather than a phone if I really get the Desire HD. I do not use the phone function on my Desire much.

that is the prices converted from Taiwan Dollars. Most likely its SRP will be RM2,399 or RM2,299 the lowest. But Spore announced SRP is only S$888.

I just MNP from Maxis to DiGi SmartPlan without contract. I will sign up for 1 year plan if DiGi bundle Desire HD at good price.

I think that is only sales tax. Currently no import duty for mobile phones? We may still need to pay import duty.

i think it is always smarter to be in the second batch after all the initial issues and problems solved.

Just switch to DiGi SmartPlan for about a week. Running the Desire on 3G with constant 3G/Wi-Fi data connection on really drain the phone's battery super fast.

after MNP to DiGi SmartPlan, I started using 3G/WiFi always on with my Desire, only I know the Desire's battery drain real fast. I start by fully charged in the morning and normally until late night around 11pm plus, I only left with 15% (when the low battery warning sound). Need to charge overnight every day now.

Previously my Desire can last for 2 full days and still never reach 15% warning point.

Can't imagine if Desire HD battery life is worse than Desire.

SRP SGD888, huat ah!!!

Spore SRP SGD888 only about RM2,100. Street price will be even cheaper around SGD780-800, only about RM1,850-1950 only.

Why need to buy so far from UK at much higher price?
