i wanted to buy a handheld but was in dilemma now previously for a long time already wanted to get psp but with current trend people over the net keep trashing the psp (even tho i enjoyed playing friend's psp) and people keep comparing it with n3ds while all my other friend that have handheld, all buy psp instead... i don't mind the specs, but its functionality and its future cost after buying, you know, like a handheld should be...

I own a PSP2000 and just got a Go recently. IMO, i find that the library of games on PSP is more suitable for me than NDS/3DS library of games. a lot of the games on NDS/3DS feel gimmicky and not really utilising the touchscreen. i own a NDS before and after playing games like Nintendogs, Cooking mama etc, i decided to sell it off. I just don't like the games. So, basically,: 1. check which games you want to play most. 2. buy the system associated with the games.

Buy NDS and it's successors if you like Pokemon, Mario, Digimon, brain teaser type of game. Some notable hits that are exclusively for NDS are such as Elite Beat Agent, Etrian Odyssey (which I like the most) and so on.
Buy PSP if you like larger screen (still pixelated though) and intend to play retro games as well as emulators (SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, etc).

DJ Max series, God of War, Dissidia Finaly Fantasy, Crisis Core: FFVII, Megaman Powered up, Persona 3 Portable, Castlevania Dracula X chronicles, Metal Gear solid Peace walker etc etc.
