different type of plants needs diferrent intensity of lights. intensity can be measured by light wattage.

and using sun light isnt recommended. somehow it only attracts algae growth and also increase water temperature. too hot is no good for plants.

depends where u cut it.. dont cut until left the batang. cut and leave some root on it

depends. if your seriously into growing the good stuff.. then its necessary. if not. then its only recommended but not necessary.

cuz if ur going for 2ft, HOB will be too small. filter media wont be enough
top filter ull have an ugly pump in the tank + increase temperature + loss of co2 thru water agitation
so anything 2feet and above if ur going for planted tank then ull need a canister.

im a fan of pll because i think the only 2feet tube with 55watt. t5 dunhave. means ull have to buy 2 x t5 maybe 26watt or sumthing like dat.
a 2ft 55wat pll will cost about less than rm50 if u Diy. bulb wold cost from rm17 to 25. ballast just abit cheaper. or u can buy those set for house use punya.. buy at electrical store.. rm50 i tink
