Well, How big is your nano tank again superdude? 19 fishes is a little iffy to me.

I currently have 10 cherries and 2 otos in my 2 ft tank. and spotted a few baby cherries.

just spotted a strange looking bug, which i think is a dragonfly nymph. googled and read that this thing kills small fishes and shrimps. any one with experience? how to kill it without manually removing them. they hide quite well..

If you do intend to get a nice fish tank and to continue in the hobby, you will definitely need a canister filter. try to get a small eheim 2213 now. It's only rm199 (cause its eheim promotion in all major stores). it's useful because:
1. its easier to get cleaner water (nicer tank) as the flowrate is higher
2. next time if u ever get a bigger tank, the canister filter can be used as well (cost saving in the long run).

i started this hobby about 2 months ago, and i now have a few HOB filter lying around doing nothing because it's not really effective and these relic from my initial investment into hobby turn out to be rather useless. just my 2 cents.

btw, i got myself a 2215 and 2217 from the promotion.. wheee!

but the heat release by T8 is much higher than T5.

whats the spectrum of that LED ? i think the normal cheap cheap for pc modding 1 not strong enough for aquarium tank right ?

In parallel it becomes a current divider, in series it's a voltage divider.

make sure the PSU has enought current output to drive the LED in parallel.

to calculate current output, P=VI. Power in watt, V in voltage and I in amps. so, I=P/V

Eg, I=400/12 =33.33 Amps..

U might wanna be careful with the circuitry. A 3 watt led has a driving current of 700mA= 0.7 amps. ur PSU has way more power to run leds make sure u have properly designed the circuit with adequate resistors to limit the current and voltage to avoid frying the LED.

Nice, since u have a circuit up, it'll be easier to troubleshoot..  what's the power rating on ur PSU? how many watt?  from that power u can find the current output..

also, if it's possible. state the LED, driving curent and forward voltage.. if u get it from ebay, check the isting. it muct be stated there...

specs for ur LED:

Power: 10W
Voltage: 10V
Current, I= P/V = 1 Amp

If u have connected the two leds and the PSU parallel to each other, the voltage drop across all component will be 12V. that's bad. prolonged operation in that voltage may compromise ur leds life span. or might just fry it even sooner. so, we need to calculate a equivalent resistor to limit the voltage to 10V max across each led.

For the PSU, if u're using the 12 volt cable only. with the 18A current, u can drive any component up to (P=VxI) (12x18), 216 W max. but u're only gonna drive 2 10W led. that's only 20W. so, again we must limit the current too.  from ur led spec the current goin thru each LED must not be more than 1 Amp as opposed 18 Amps..

let me calculate and put up a new circuit for u. so u can drive ur leds safely.. but i'm not sure how damage u have done to ur leds already..

yay my tank 2 months old already. Bought some cheap CRS back, rm10.50 ea 

lul i just realised snails can be quite friendly, helps to clear up some algae (esp on my co2 diffuser) and also eating dead leaves. i just leave it there, one two or three should be ok i guess. if i saw the fourth one, straight take out my tweezer n pick it out. btw the snails in my tank now is quite small in size 

I just set up a small 5 gallon paludarium. There's a single guppy in there because I don't have anywhere else to put him(he bullied the other guppies to death, and I don't want him anywhere near my neons)
as you can see the tank's only half full + wood = cramped 2 gallons of swimming space. What can I fit in there besides a betta? I was thinking of shrimp but I'm worried that they'll climb up the wood and pothos and out of the tank.

My aquarium is now being invaded by micro tiny snails 
I think its because of those cheap wild plants that I used. What do I do now?
My tank currently only have one male and female guppy.

guys, this happened to me twice already
i bought 'green' shrimps
once from AI and once from pets wonderland midvalley
after two days they either turned into reddish(almost cherry-like) or orange?!
whats goin on here?!

Hey hey, ok I've not said much in this part of the forum.. ok wait I've yet to say anything in this thread!! lolx. anyways, I've just started a tank, filled it up with like 40 bucks worth of tetra just to let them die so the tank can cycle better lolx.

Currently got a 2.5ft tank and unfortunately for me i'm in a place where nobody does planted tanks! or at least none i know of. Even the fish shops here rarely stock stuff that i want. I used to do horrible planted tanks when i was back in KL then moved on to cichlids cos i love em! but decided to do planted in this tiny town called Miri in sarawak.

The only soil they have here is the brand terra. Yea I have no choice in soil here. cant find any dosage solutions here either >.< Hopefully you guys in here can help me out a bit.

Also thanks to michanz who sent me some moss and i think java fern have yet to sort out the plants cos all items arrived late last night.

I'll post my tank up once i get proper soil to work with. In the mean time I'll have to find rocks or branches I can use to start tying up the moss. Oh and Michanz, I have more stuff for you to do for me lolx. I'll send you a list of chems i need k. I think I might be able to get someone to bring them to Miri for me early November. lolx.
