My gigabyte5850oc runs at 400/1200 at idle, and during movies .
Flickering issue disappears if i use AMDgpu tool to tune it to a higher frequency. 950/1200. Maybe its the idle problem.
*
bro..u need to update the gc bios to get 157/300 when idle..i'm using this card too n it got a problem with clock when idle...
BTW this card is good for OC..can get 929/1200 stable...hehehe... biggrin.gif

hm from your sig, i think your gigabyte card is the same as mine.
This right?

I didnt overclock this card (leaving it factory overclocked @ 765/1000) and at room temperature, idling sits at 46c mostly. Gaming, it hits 71c max.
how did you bring it down to 63c while gaming ? lol

Casing I use is Lancool K58. 2 front intakes, 1rear exhaust, 1top exhaust.

Unless...you are using aftermarket graphic card cooler, then nvm tongue.gif
*
yup,my card is gigabyte hd5850 OC same with the picture taken...
i think maybe it's because of my casing lor..good airflow in my casing... tongue.gif
BTW that is at room temperature n no aircond...
FYI,i use 2 front intakes, 4 side panel intakes, 1 rear exhaust, 2 top exhaust... biggrin.gif

according to catalyst, my idle sits at 45c @ 46% fan speed lol (765/1000 default factory oc)
Room temperature not sure, but its summer now and night time outside now is 30c. No air con lol

lol your cards got good cooling!
*
that mean ur idle clock is 765/1000 rite???
if that so,that why ur idle temp is high bro.... smile.gif

yeah that explained it, and makes me thinking IMO if this factory OC'ed card will not be automatically underclock on idle it is a disadvantage. Is every factory OC'ed card like that?
*
nope, this problem happen with gigabyte hd5850 OC only i think...
u need to flash the bios to able a 157/300 clock when idle... sweat.gif

Those who plan to crossfire HD5850, give you some good news. Nvidia has dropped 470 price already. Which it is almost same price as 5850. Just wait ATI respond for the next 2 weeks to see whether 5850 will drop price or not...
Sigh.... I'm still waiting 5870 to drop price so I can crossfire it.  cry.gif

theorically suppose 2b smoother..but since i'm using w2207 (not full HD summore) actually quite none the difference....
5870 aredi overkill 4 my w2207....
i just try this out 2c my GC capability...that's all... whistling.gif
later if i'm using bigger display i will update here with some technical details...like FPS etc
but more speed comes with higher wattage=heat...idle around 52@55% fan speed compare to normal idle @ 37c

@rsangel...try furmark or MSI kombustor.... thumbup.gif
*
or try OCCt to stress ur gpu... tongue.gif
