why need to format pc when installing latest catalyst?

gonna update later when back home, due to AA in SC2.
 but dont know if 5770 running at 1366x768 will take much hit with AA on at ultra settings. currently playing at 40-60fps.  |

lol when uninstalling 10.7 to update to 10.8, becomes BSOD.
 finally able to update n turn on 2xAA in SC2. definitely can see the improvements in picture quality. 4x & 8x is too much for 5770.  |
