CATALYST 10.8 RELEASED TODAY!

Download here:

http://game.amd.com/it-it/drivers_catalyst.aspx

QUOTE
AMD released the 10.8 version of their Catalyst video drivers, for all current Radeon and Radeon Mobility cards.

New features include full support for OpenGL ES 2.0 (it was previously beta), enhanced default quality profiles for video viewing, Antialiasing support for StarCraft II, CrossFire profile updates for Mafia 2, Singularity, Final Fantasy XIV, LotR Online, and Aliens vs. Predator, performance improvements for a short list of games, and perhaps most desired: a fix for the “corrupt mouse cursor” bug that has plagued so many.

A full list of bug fixes, enhancements, and other improvements is available on their release notes:

OMG .... Just install 10.7..... I don't want format my pc 1 more time . cry.gif
*
This is not really recommended, but you can just install straight away without going through the procedure. I've done it many times and no bugs or any anomalies.
But do try to go through the proper way of installing the driver.

1. Un-install via Catalyst un-installer. Restart PC.
2. Press F8 (press F8 many times as soon the PC restart if you don't know when to press it) then select SAFE MODE, wait.
3. At this point you should have installed 'Driver Sweeper' (software), choose to clean the ATi components. Restart.
4. Installer Catalyst via Catalyst installer normally. (the screen will blank for a while). RESTART.
5. You are set to go.

ooo how can happen like that...then nasib baik sy punyer x jadi mcm tu....
just normal uninstall thru control panel~unistall program~install new 1...then proceed as usual...

TT Pro: RM190, before bro Clawhammer offer me for RM170, but I didn't take it... doh.gif
Xtreme (for 5870): RM245
But of course if you're not going to overclock extremely, the Twin Turbo is suitable for your use bro.

@vincent09

You have reformatted the comp, have you successfully installed the driver after that, right?
I supposed you have, so just try the step Driver installation step again for 10.8, and hope not to BSOD...

Anyone installed the CCC10.8 yet? what is different this time lol

The major improvement is that now you can enable Anti-Aliasing in Star Craft 2 if you're playing that game.
Other fixes, why not read the release notes accordingly to your OS, here you can cross-reference any related bugs/issues (if you are having them):

twin ada 2 kipas.extreme ada 3 kipas..3 kali power tu,sejuk smpai tulang itam la gamaknye..
btw,i already plan to upgrade for extreme one soon coz the cooler is very special design for 5870,that very exclusive! thumbup.gif

and i see the twin got some issue heat with the vrm..V1 i think.. hmm.gif
*
Yes, the V1 got that vrm issue that deter me from buying that cooler in the first place.

@huzzLEE_82
Tak sempat ko reply lagi, aku akan tingkatkan dosage keracunan, biar aku teraskan guna style lawyer:

The 5870 has a pretty decent overclocking headroom, a 900/13xx OC preset for the 5870 is considered a pretty mild OC result. The FPS gains from gaming is almost unnoticeable...
At least you need to get up to 950mhz for a respectable OC'ing, but for 24/7 on the reference cooler, this is not practical because of heat and high fan speed noise.

This is when you need the aftermarket cooler. <Arctic Cooling Xtreme> There's couple of coolers in the market that suits the 5870.<Arctic Cooling Xtreme>
With an after-market cooler, <Acrtic Cooling Xtreme> you can get pretty low IDLE temps and importantly, to bring down the temps at high OC preset, which benefit you tremendously in the longevity of the card's life. <Acrtic Cooling Xtreme>
The bonus factors are that: your card will look superbly hot and it will be silent in your case! <Acrtic Cooling Xtreme> Imagine a hot girlfriend who doesn't talk much at all. <Acrtic Cooling Xtreme>
The 5870 combined with the Acrtic Cooling Xtreme should do the trick to facilitate in your overclocking journey. thumbup.gif

(I hope the subliminal message gets to you without resistance)

yeah the scenery is marvellous....u on the train like super duper hero fightin' all enemies...hahahahaha
also if play in higher level easily dead+++ lagg....huhuhuhu
now just install CCC10.8 then i'll repeat that train stage again...wanna c if any improvement.. biggrin.gif

Bro, the game's engine is so good that I turned of AA completely. rclxms.gif
Runs average of 50~60.1fps on 1920X1080 res. (with 5850 OC'ed modestly at 850/1050)
Without AA of, you're barely notice that "rough edge", and the game runs superbly like an FPS game should.

Yeah, before I was obsessed with choosing between AAx2, AAx4 or AAx8 in C:W...but with a little research I found out that a lot of people recommended to turn it off completely.

So bro, do try to turn the AA off and see if the graphic quality still remains beautiful for you, esp the train level where the mountain/canyon falls apart... (if you notice)
Another bonus factor of high fps, is, you can aim precisely without that lagginess, esp when you need to do "boom headshot!" on those koreans to finish them of quickly and preserve ammo... biggrin.gif

EDIT:
I did ran 3DMarkVantage 20hours ago for C 10.8 but didn't feel like posting the screenshots because the result it about the same as 10.7, but that's just that old synthetic benchmarker... haven't tried gaming yet, will today...

i have a problem here.. hope u guys in here can help me to solve this problems..

1st of all, im using lcd acer h233h n using hdmi connector to my 5870..

the probs comes when i want to play crysis, my windows not be in full screen. when im choose at the setting at the game for fullscreen, the windows looks like zoom out..

its looks like have a scaling problem..

why is this happen to me?  cry.gif  apakah dosa ku.. cry.gif

help me please guys..  icon_question.gif  cry.gif

*this such a problem not occur in any games except crysis..  sad.gif
*
Same here! doh.gif

I decrease the reso 1 increment back (for 16:9 monitors) and got full screen for Crysis.
The graphic is not bad at all though...
I only able to get a full screen @1920X1080 with a VGA or DVI cable.

On that note, I encounter an annoying bug for the 10.8 when using HDMI cable to get full screen (max scalling) on my AOC 2434,
the scale keeps reverting back to small every time I resart the comp and have to manually re-set the the scalling again and again... mega_shok.gif
Do you encounter this on 10.8? that is if you already updated to it....

or should i buy the green?huhu..  sweat.gif

Revert back to 10.7, that if you are not playing SC2 for enabling AA. Me, not a fan of these strategy like game, so I'm going to revert back to 10.7.
I already compared the performance difference between 10.7 and 10.8, it's very unnoticeable when gaming, so revert bro.

On the other hand, TwL mod Driver v3.95 is an alternative, plus better performance from the official drivers...

EDIT:
FYI, the Crysis issue (can't fullscreen) I'd encountered it waaay back since I first bought my AOC 24" 2434 back in January using HDMI cable, if you use VGA/DVI cable, there's zero scalling related issue.
Prolly gonna either revert back the drivers or just switch to DVI cable... nod.gif

Either way this result looks more of a prototype still in it's infant stage... still they gotta deal with regulating the heat and power consumption, etc.
The final product could be reflected like that 3dmark vantage(extreme setting) score or could be lesser of card, still no clue.

But for sure, the rumors-news is very promising drool.gif

I like these recent drivers though, all the video related stuff are played through the graphic card instead of the CPU.
Even Youtube revs my card from idle you 400mhz.

Yeah, a hotfix is really needed now!

Care to share the link? thx

Yeah, I thought it only works with VLC Player, (as it was official stated by ATi) but the card hogs every video related encoding to be utilized on it.
Even the modest Youtube (480 and 720HD) vids gets throttled. tongue.gif

Dunno if it's a good thing, but it's better off than the card to remain dormant in the case...well I paid RM9xx for it, might as be in employment.

But the Toxic is using a better PCB which is about 1cm longer than the regular 5850 and with more capacitors for increased endurance when OC'ing.

user posted image

@sai86,
The Toxic is far superior im hardware built than the rest of the 5850's line, but of course you pay extra for this 'enthusiast' features, and the Toxic cooler I think uses the Vapor-X™ system in cooling, do google up to confirm.
So you gotta decide to go stock or this.
The stock with non-reference cooler also considerable if you don't mind using the stock PCB, like the rest of us here tongue.gif

It humiliates the 58xx cards!
I feel I don't care anymore for the recent underperfoming drivers, their hardware pwnd big time! notworthy.gif

I think it's a wise move for 58xx owners to sell their cards and use that money well saved to get this 6 series, the problem still remains of what is the rough launch dates of these new cards..
dont wanna jump the gun too soon by selling it now and the 6 series to come out late...

on the side case what is the latest stable driver ? 10.7 ?

Red is synonymous to ATI, but I hope they don't turn to green because I think AMD is green oriented in their colour palette of branding.
Nvidia's green is ok because their green is vibrant and bright, but the AMD's green looks pale and un-lively...

Don't know whether I should sell my 5870 and get 6000 series or I just crossfire it. I might worry the price of 6000 series is not just RM1400 =____= as last 5000 series.
*
I think you should opt for practically over trend, meaning you can have very good performance with the 'price-dropped' CF'ed 58xx series rather than jumping on the bandwagon by getting the 6 Series.
The 58xx as a single card is already powerful for any games at 1920X1080 res, CF'ing it will be ultimatum. notworthy.gif

People will argue that a CF'ed 58xx will consume more power than a single 6 Series, because majority of them using 500W PSU's...for you bro ,that's the point of having of having a 850W PSU in the first place. biggrin.gif

If you want to get the 6 Series regardless, I think it's safe for you to still use the 58xx for no more than 2 months before the big price cut to be in affect.

Either way, it's too soon to say anything...just chill, wait and see what's gonna happen in these few weeks time. nod.gif

Currently, I am using CCC 10.8 WHQL only.
Might change to TwL Modded Driver sooner or later when the bugs fixed.

Yup, I'm tempted to download RIGHT NOW! But let it be given at least 1 week of waiting period to see if things will going fine with the driver. After all, this is a modded driver, TwL needs more time to be spent on the safety and stability aspect of this driver also.

like ur saying 2x5870 with higher wattage PSU (850~1000W) will use less power bro?
correct me if i have it wrong.... notworthy.gif
one thing 5 series ATi is comply with DX11...so will 6 series jump to DX12?hehehehehe
i dunno just ask sifu here... whistling.gif

*
U'r confused bro, I said that to bro jet23sky because he got TX850 (assuming, from his sig) so CF's a 5870 is no prob for him, unlike other people who are using lower wattage PSU and having a dillema such that: a CF'd 58xx series is value for money per performance but have to spent more on a new PSU...a 6 Series is the new card (plus no need to buy new PSU) but if compared to CF'ing a 58xx to upgrading to a 6 Seires in a financial point of view, fianacially CF'ing the 58xx is the choice.
FYI, to upgrade the card, you gotta sell your 58xx for cheap because of depreciation and need to top-up more to buy the 6 Series, whereas CF'ing the 5 Series you just need to buy another 'price-drop' 58xx series, or cheap via 2nd-hand card.

DX12! Don't think Windows 7 has that support/compatibility yet, prolly will come out with Windows '8' or Windows 7 "V2"/patch...
Yup, the 6800 Series will have DirectX 12 but seriously, DX12 is really in the dark at the moment, dunno what it is capable of and more importantly, will games have DX12 support?

I think games will have DX11.5 that can be compatible with DX12 cards but I think I just rambling because it's too soon to speculate much...
Guys, any opinion on this????
