Hi,

my best advice to you - go to any of your friend house who had just renovated their house., and see for your self.. how many lighting point they installed and what type.

I've made some silly mistake by just following the ceiling contractor advice on lighting point.

When the whole house completed and i switch on all the light.! Whoaaa!! my house like a hypermarket or hotel - very the bright!! even switch off half also still over-bright.

so.., before you spend like mad following the contractor advice.. seek for yourself.. any of your friend house. and try to reduce the lighting point.

If you see the house in english movie - their lighting is very simple., and not too bright.

Now.. everytime i'm back at my house.., i'm still looking at those extravaganza light that I've installed at my house.. tongue.gif.. ! silly me.

Hopefully all this light will be useful one day - when i do any event or during hari-raya open house.. hhahaha..

well if you use the d/light n using the light save bulb ..then u cannot use the dimmer...

if you use the with glass for th d/light so you need to be rajin lor as in 3 months time kena open up n clean the dead insect..

spiral is better light than 3 or 4 'U' bulb type...

plus the color of the light  - Warm / Cool Daylight / Daylight makes the difference of the area..if not percaya then try all these type color...your wall color will look so different due to the it...

anyway..all back to personal opinion...cheers..

antzan makes a very good point up there..

1st - the type of buld. I use the standard 18w plc philip.

2nd - the colour! cool daylight will give you a flourescent type of brightness - a bit to white to my likin (read : my likin might not the same with your likin ya! tongue.gif)
- the daylight - for is just nice bright with a tint of yellowish.
- the warm - wargh this one - is too yellow already..! - but it depend on your liking lah.

3rd - if you use all cfl light (energy saving bulb) - there's no way you can use dimmer to the cfl. the only option is - this is what i do to the house - group the light into certain group. - means you can divide the light into sectional or you can group it into half-half.. or whatever pattern you like ler.

for some example of how bright is my house.. after installing all the christmas light.. click below :

Akhirnya menyala! (lampu)

this blog chronicles some of my renovation work done to my house.. you can also leave a comment there.. tongue.gif. (but process is done deal lah! - so learn from my mistake or something that might inspired you! chewaah)

looking at your link above - if i use the standard 18w plc bulb and replace with this dimmerable light buld - the cost is 11 uk pound = convert to MRY = > 11 British pounds = 53.723548 Malaysian ringgits

wow.! if i had 50 light point? how much for a bulb?

the normal philips 18w plc energy saving bulb only cost me around RM4 to max RM4.50.

if using non branded - around rm2 ringgit only.

so.. does it worth it?

In jalan pudu got few shop behind the eletronic shop selling in bulk.

Quite cheap - can get 3.50 - 4.50 (depending on quantity you're buying) for Philips 18w PLC light.
