want to ask, a contractor charging me these for lighting:
- RM50 light looping
- RM5 open hole
- RM60 install light <-- is this reasonable? I thought the above 2 activities should include installing the lights already?

im a noob too,so not sure..to install dimmer switch i think u need to hack the walls right..unless u buy those pplug-in dimmers which i think would still require u to plug it into a socket that is somehow looped to the lighting wire.anyhow i think u still need to make a hole in your wall

yes but if bulb is dimmer compatible, I think only need to hack another plug point near to the light switch, not a big job... maybe just pay RM100+ to drill the hole for you, or DIY

I need advice for my led downlight setup in my room:
For masterroom 15x18x10ft, i plan to have 3+3 downlights
For bedroom 16x10x10ft, i plan to have 2+2 downlights

Currently I considering 3 types of LED downlights:
1. Aztech-lite, 4" 11W 4000k 950lm (~RM90) PF>0.9, CRI>85 (thanks to zealles recommendation)
2. GE, 10W 5000k 750lm (~RM99)
3. PAK, 12W 4000k 870lm (~RM130)

I prefer smooth light ambiance + enough brightness for children study, what kind of downlight brightness I should get for the above room sizes?
