Need to buy 22 downlight holder by end of this month. I prefer the square one rather than the round one simply because it looks nicer. But one problem is the square one need to install 2 bulbs, 22 x 2 = 44 bulbs... although I'm not switching on all of them most of the time, but it will also cost a bomb in my electric bill....

Anyway suggestions? My ceiling height is around 8.5 Feet, if inside the square downlight i just install 1 bulb will it be bright enough? How many watts should i use?

Thanks...

u can still put 1 bulb instead of 2 bulb use higher than 18w...i'm doing that, so far quite happy with it. only kitchen i put double as my wife would like kitchen to be as bright as possible...but i'm using only 12w bulb x2 for each downlight... try to save as possible as can  rclxms.gif

Thanks for your advise. Got ppl say don't use the "screw" type of bulb, use "pin" type, because "pin" type normally got transformer, will be brighter, is that true?

very true. LED seems still a high risk investment to me.

Is there any lighting difference if I put 2x11w bulb and 1x 22w bulb? Just an example to discuss.

2x11w and 1x22w in theory it should be same. but bear in mind different brand of bulb can have different brightness even in same watt, spiral or u tube also contribute. i have tried diamond brand 3 u tube against phillips 3 u tube brightness is so much different....well choices is urs. mine last time do alot of study using different brand and watt. lucky the shop so gud, i can try with whatever bulb i want if not satisfy they willing to change...

gud luck!  rclxms.gif

got some normal square 4" downlight today... RM7.90 each... nice deal?
the promoter told me spiral type is brighter... guess i'll try my luck by installing 1 single spiral bulb... if not ok then only use 2 normal bulb.

Hitachi brand bulb ok or not? RM8.5 if not mistaken, comes with 1 year warranty.

What is the watt of this Hitachi bulb? I brought for rm22 for 23w. So far using hitachi last quite long compare philip and cap ayam. Now all the bulb I change to hitachi. But not that cheap.

hi, i just installed square 4" downlight with 1 x 18W bulb. but i found it's not so brighter compare with round downlight. so, if i put another one bulb (so become 2 x 18W, is't ok or maybe it'll overheated?
