It's considered a space western series and considered sci-fi since it deals with science, technology and other possibilities that are not achievable in real life currently.

There's no such thing as a cowboy movie plot. This isn't a 100% western and that's apparent if compared to other such westerns like Unforgiven and the other such titles Clint Eastwood is famous for. There are tons of other space related scenes especially when they're on the run from the Alliance. It's a mixture of both although the premise is western like for the outlaws. Notice that the Alliance are not western friendly. The outer planets are all western like while the main cities Alliance controlled are all pretty futuristic.

Might want to understand the meaning of science fiction better. It doesn't mean it has to be something like BSG or Star gate. Science fiction basically deals with science and technology premise which most of the time appear futuristic. It could be also done in the present and it would still be considered science fiction. It's all about possibilities. Twilight Zone episodes are considered science fiction, the 6th day is science fiction, so is the X-men movies.

Just because you don't like certain movies doesn't mean it sucks. Firefly is one of the best sci-fi series out there and to be honest, the thousands of people liking the show can't be wrong. Serenity is the finale to the series which ties up a few ends. It deals with the origins of the Reavers and it explains the whole issue with Simon breaking River out. If the series wasn't canceled, I'm guessing there would have been a lot of space related scenes done and better plots written for the show. Also remember that Serenity was only considered because of the high sales of the Firefly series dvd which started taking off real well after word of mouth spread on how good the initial few episodes were

Same goes for Resident Evil, you might not like it but it's a pretty decent set of action movies. Well done although there's not really much to work with the plot. Great action sequences and I personally enjoyed all 3 movies. I might not think they're the best zombie movies around. But those movies provided adequate entertainment and can be included in a zombie movie marathon at any given time. They're definitely not 2nd grade movies but they're also not Academy award nominated movies like Avatar or the Hurt Locker.


All in all, it's down to the movies a person watches. You're right about one thing though, one man's meat is another man's poison. You might like "Barbie - A fashion fairytale" but others might not.
