Firefly is the best sci-fi series ever. Nice western outlook, great space action. Good story line/plot. You'll need to watch Serenity for the series to make sense. Firefly was cancelled after 11 or so episodes. The remaining episodes out have garnered a huge following. If you're not a sci-fi/space related series, I wouldn't waste my time. Go watch Tru Blood or something. PQ is exactly how it's suppose to look like smile.gif

Resident Evil, great zombie action. And the action star is beautiful and hot. Storyline is alright, but the action is fabulous.

No regrets for both collections.

agreed serenity is good..
but i dont know how u can consider firefly is best sci-fi seriesĀ  doh.gif
80% cowboy movies plot...20% on sci-fi only..
space action?as i recall, all the action is on ground...not even have action on space except last episode..
when come to sci-fi, i am expecting something like BSG or stargate..that only can consider sci-fi series..

btw..RE sucks big time too..

maybe our taste of movies different...

It's considered a space western series and considered sci-fi since it deals with science, technology and other possibilities that are not achievable in real life currently.

There's no such thing as a cowboy movie plot. This isn't a 100% western and that's apparent if compared to other such westerns like Unforgiven and the other such titles Clint Eastwood is famous for. There are tons of other space related scenes especially when they're on the run from the Alliance. It's a mixture of both although the premise is western like for the outlaws. Notice that the Alliance are not western friendly. The outer planets are all western like while the main cities Alliance controlled are all pretty futuristic.

Might want to understand the meaning of science fiction better. It doesn't mean it has to be something like BSG or Star gate. Science fiction basically deals with science and technology premise which most of the time appear futuristic. It could be also done in the present and it would still be considered science fiction. It's all about possibilities. Twilight Zone episodes are considered science fiction, the 6th day is science fiction, so is the X-men movies.

Just because you don't like certain movies doesn't mean it sucks. Firefly is one of the best sci-fi series out there and to be honest, the thousands of people liking the show can't be wrong. Serenity is the finale to the series which ties up a few ends. It deals with the origins of the Reavers and it explains the whole issue with Simon breaking River out. If the series wasn't canceled, I'm guessing there would have been a lot of space related scenes done and better plots written for the show. Also remember that Serenity was only considered because of the high sales of the Firefly series dvd which started taking off real well after word of mouth spread on how good the initial few episodes were smile.gif

Same goes for Resident Evil, you might not like it but it's a pretty decent set of action movies. Well done although there's not really much to work with the plot. Great action sequences and I personally enjoyed all 3 movies. I might not think they're the best zombie movies around. But those movies provided adequate entertainment and can be included in a zombie movie marathon at any given time. They're definitely not 2nd grade movies but they're also not Academy award nominated movies like Avatar or the Hurt Locker.

All in all, it's down to the movies a person watches. You're right about one thing though, one man's meat is another man's poison. You might like "Barbie - A fashion fairytale" but others might not.

gosh !!!  minutes ago , i just grap the deal of the century in the Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series at 9.93pounds . could not believe it at 94% off

For a series that costs £80, that's probably a mistake.

If the order goes through, then it's a pretty good deal smile.gif

I have the spider man trilogy.

If they can make the separate releases look and sound better, then I'd buy em. If not, I don't think I'm going to waste my time.

Not a big fan of all those extras. I watch the movies mostly, extras are for when I have nothing else to watch.

Well, the BSG Complete Series is definitely a good buy even at its current price. The UK edition I think it way better than the US edition (the packaging mostly) although it does come without the Plan. But I just bought the disc separately.

For anime lover, Laputa, the Castle in the Sky is coming to BD, releasing 2010/12/22. Source here

You want a real worth while box set? Get the Dirty Harry Collection.

A bunch of amazing movies. Out of my whole collection, it's those blu-rays that I've enjoyed the most so far.

Harry Callahan is the epitome of police brutality and getting the job done right.

His methods might be unpopular, but he gets the job done. In the movies, he's always getting chewed out for his actions and he's always getting demoted.

Great action, and Clint Eastwood portrays the character well. The movies are from the 70'ties and 80'ties but that doesn't make a difference where the action is concerned.

Great bunch of movies. It's never going to appear as sharp and clear as the recently released high definition offerings, but that doesn't take anything away from the movies.

Anyone here have any idea why the format for pixar movies are not standard. Some have the black bar, some don't?

Monster Inc, Toy Story, Toy Story 2 don't, the rest like Cars, A Bug's Life, etc do?

What I know is, it is totally up to director's preference what aspect ratio most suitable for that particular movie.  I believe Pixer's movies are mostly directed by different directors. Am I right?  hmm.gif

Yeah, Toy Story has the same directors. But weird that animation like that requires stupid black bars.

No one said it was wrong. I was just wondering about the need for black bars in animation movies.
