A desire user myself, have no issue with screen nor speaker.
The cons with desire for me would be the battery issue. sweat.gif

I'd take Nexus 1. It's still the only officially sanctioned Google phone, and Android 3.0 will probably be available for it first.

So far Nexus One is always the first phone to get updates. E.g. Eclair (2.1) and Froyo (2.2) were offered to Nexus 1 first. So it's not unreasonable to think that 3.0 will go to N1 first too.

Some people say current phones including Nexus One and Desire cannot support Android 3.0. But Google has said this is not true.

Get N1, no questions about it. You like to tweak stuff and push your phone to the limit. N1 is made for that. The devs are more active with the N1 and there are plenty of toys to play around. I've jumped on the N1 ship and never looked back, although I still keep my Hero around (just cant sell it, it's my first Android). Right now Google is harassing me to update to FroYo. blink.gif

Get Desire if you have a Sense fetish and like empty promises from HTC. whistling.gif

agree with you bro, i've no problem with screen or speaker. the pinkish tint issue i think was slightly overblown. yeah, i could slight pink on the supposedly grey area on HTC website....on others i don't even notice.

Battery is an issue....have to charge every night. even my 3 year old p3600. can give me 2days on single charge...no regret though..love it

I first wanted to buy the desire. Then I changed my mind and wanted to buy the nexus 1, since it can get new firmware earlier and might be able to update to more future firmwares.

In the end I decided to go back to the desire for few reasons:
1 Sense UI
2 Warranty for 2 years, service locally
3 Optical trackball not so easy to get dirty and spoil (I never seem to use it now btw)
4 Can always root and update to newer firmware after warranty expired (I hope smile.gif )

Just before I bought it the Samsung Galaxy S also launched. But Samsung always seems to be very slow with updating the firmware (even slower then HTC!) I also heard it can run very slow. I have no such problem with the desire so far. I don't use a taskkiller btw.

Edit: oh yes, the battery life is quite horrible smile.gif

That's not officially from HTC bro. It isnt even a leak. It's a custom ROM by udK. Read here:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...3&postcount=165
and here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...0&postcount=185

So yes, I still maintain that HTC has a very ugly record when keeping to their update promises. tongue.gif

I got it from there as well but it's a leak (I guess so as it contains HTC confidential) which mean they're doing something instead of nothing tongue.gif

They're still debating whether it's a leak or otherwise. And if it's indeed a leak, that 720p recording feature would suggest it's an EVO 2.2 ROM rather than Desire. The problem with HTC is not that they are doing nothing. It's when do they actually roll out the updates. There will be rumors, delays and broken promises.

N1 and desire is more or less the same phone. Both can be rooted. Buy desire if u prefer the sis 2 yr local warranty. Buy the n1 if u prefer to be otherwise.

Speaker of both units r not as good as nokia/samsung/sony handphones, but good enuf for teleconversations. Battery won't last as long as these phones too, but if u switch off yr H or 3G and on them only when required the desire/n1 battery can last a full day+ with reasonable intensive use. No problem with wifi, bluetooth, gps. Very nice screen, roburst UI. If u want the best screen for the moment, then it will be the galaxy s.

haha, inutz...
u look like you are fancy of nexus one through your posts, i would suggest you to go with your own preference. Only once you have a hand on on the device, then you will know which one you would like. Although both n1 and desire look the same and have more or less the same functionality, it's better not to compare two phones because a phone will never get all the functions. So, just stay with your choice, play with it for a short period and develop your "love" to your choice. Then, you will not regret buying it. smile.gif

Thx bro!
I get it but nowadays not as simply as you thought. I m not finding the perfect one but merely or close to perfect. As you said, everyone have own preference, may be I will check out their similarities and differences first before any transaction take place. Once again, it is for my own good right?

Ok here's the thing. FroYo is not for Nexus One, it's for all Android phones. So theoretically, FroYo should work on any Android phones that has capable hardware. Since basically both the N1 and Desire have the same hardware specs, I dont see how an N1 could outperform a Desire if both of them are running Vanilla Android. In fact, I think Desire would have an advantage due to its larger RAM capacity.

actually both has their pros and cons... nothing much to brag about as the one should we compare is non-android phone...

Nexus one basically made by Google (manufactured by HTC) whereas desire is made by HTC (OS manufactured by Google)....

And i think N1 & desire is like brotherhood... just different father/mother tongue.gif

On rooted phones - Need to install Trackball Alert ( free ) - different colors for missed call, Gmail, other email, SMs, Tweeter > For more programs to assign color can opt for PRO version cost GBP 1.99.

lol....

and btw, i am a desire owner and i wont compare it to nexus one. for me, they are the same, 98% identical. i have always been thinking to buy nexus one as my 2nd phone but i also have Blackberry in mind...Desire as my Android phone, but i probably will take nexus one as my 2nd one. i dont know i just love it, love them both. well maybe after buying a BB, i'll find a 2nd hand nexus one...biggrin.gif hehe... the name is too cool already...

Why i bought Desire? not enough money ler that i have to go and buy it at maxis with 12 month contract...biggrin.gif yay!
