A desire user myself, have no issue with screen nor speaker.
The cons with desire for me would be the battery issue. sweat.gif

agree with you bro, i've no problem with screen or speaker. the pinkish tint issue i think was slightly overblown. yeah, i could slight pink on the supposedly grey area on HTC website....on others i don't even notice.

Battery is an issue....have to charge every night. even my 3 year old p3600. can give me 2days on single charge...no regret though..love it

Get N1, no questions about it. You like to tweak stuff and push your phone to the limit. N1 is made for that. The devs are more active with the N1 and there are plenty of toys to play around. I've jumped on the N1 ship and never looked back, although I still keep my Hero around (just cant sell it, it's my first Android). Right now Google is harassing me to update to FroYo.  blink.gif

Get Desire if you have a Sense fetish and like empty promises from HTC.  whistling.gif

I first wanted to buy the desire. Then I changed my mind and wanted to buy the nexus 1, since it can get new firmware earlier and might be able to update to more future firmwares.

In the end I decided to go back to the desire for few reasons:
1 Sense UI
2 Warranty for 2 years, service locally
3 Optical trackball not so easy to get dirty and spoil (I never seem to use it now btw)
4 Can always root and update to newer firmware after warranty expired (I hope smile.gif )

Just before I bought it the Samsung Galaxy S also launched. But Samsung always seems to be very slow with updating the firmware (even slower then HTC!) I also heard it can run very slow. I have no such problem with the desire so far. I don't use a taskkiller btw.

Edit: oh yes, the battery life is quite horrible smile.gif

That's not officially from HTC bro. It isnt even a leak. It's a custom ROM by udK. Read here:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...3&postcount=165
and here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...0&postcount=185

So yes, I still maintain that HTC has a very ugly record when keeping to their update promises. tongue.gif

I know la sleep.gif
I got it from there as well but it's a leak (I guess so as it contains HTC confidential) which mean they're doing something instead of nothing tongue.gif

I'm not sure about others but my Desire has (extremely) terrible WiFi/BT reception compared with other mobilephones, even worse than my PSP!

They're still debating whether it's a leak or otherwise. And if it's indeed a leak, that 720p recording feature would suggest it's an EVO 2.2 ROM rather than Desire. The problem with HTC is not that they are doing nothing. It's when do they actually roll out the updates. There will be rumors, delays and broken promises.

N1 and desire is more or less the same phone. Both can be rooted. Buy desire if u prefer the sis 2 yr local warranty. Buy the n1 if u prefer to be otherwise.

Speaker of both units r not as good as nokia/samsung/sony handphones, but good enuf for teleconversations. Battery won't last as long as these phones too, but if u switch off yr H or 3G and on them only when required the desire/n1 battery can last a full day+ with reasonable intensive use. No problem with wifi, bluetooth, gps. Very nice screen, roburst UI. If u want the best screen for the moment, then it will be the galaxy s.
