Actually to my suprise, The black surface is matte & thus anti-fingerprint.

The red & white yes bcos of the shining surface but not the black..check the black matte:

I can't said it's better..probably comparanble...Although able to shoot at F/2 which is the best right now on all compact series similar to LX3 & S90, but the actual sensor size (300hs =1/2.3) is still smaller than S90 (1/1.7) & LX3 (1/1,63). However the smaller sensor size compensated wth the latest & only Canon HS (high Sensitivuty sensor) back-illuminated (I think almost similar to Sony exmor R sensor kua hmm.gif )

The back-illuminated sensor uses a reversed internal design which puts the circuitry behind the photoreceptors rather than in front, and the result is greater sensitivity and, according to Canon, less noise

Although wth smaller than LX3 & S90 sensor, I decided on this to LX3 & S90 bcos:

-Attracted to the HD video cam wth superb slow motion ..hehe not yet try (S90 no HD video wor)
-The size which is smaller than both S90 & LX3
-Additional modes which I dun think S90/LX3 have (I might be wrong here) such as Fisheye & Miniature (taking a human using this damn chun wan rclxms.gif ),
- The Canon version of back-illuminated sensor similar to Sony latest TX series.. smile.gif

Nice pictures. Nice feature, good form factor, good sensor. If got x10 zoom and  24 or 25mm wide angle, then sure king of all APS compact cameras already.

Yeah that's the Color accent mode...but i still dunno how to adjust/highlight the color yet..always Gree & Yellow nia..& Also dunno how to use the color swap yet..still learning.. blush.gif

QUOTE(mastering89 @ Jul 6 2010, 08:29 AM)
the ixus 300 have the 'color accent' mode which allow u to select one color from the scene and other color becomes B&W.

another function 'color swap' can swap color la haha

Added on July 6, 2010, 9:03 amUnker..hopw-lah this P&S gonna compete wth gigantic DSLR...diff cat chor biggrin.gif ..If got NEX or those APS-C hybrid..probably can liao.. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(ianho @ Jul 6 2010, 08:12 AM)
The LX3 oso f2 but there's absolutely no bokeh 1. All the bokeh u see in stimix's pics here also fake 1. He's using the Miniature mode or right up close to subject in Macro. Normal shots with these small compacts is not gonna give u any bokeh at all.

Just a user comment lah...Kenot 100% take his words unless he hv tried S90/LX3 kua....

Here another better & pro review:

QUOTE
sd4000 owner .

just picked one of these up today in black
nice finish on it not slippery kinda a grippy feel to it.

I am a photographer for a living and also have a post production company and do a lot of PS work for other pro photographers

my pro gear is to heavy and big to haul around daily so I have a Olympus Pen the e-pl1 to be exact and love it great small camera that fits in my baggy cargo short pockets or a messenger bag etc..
but to big for surf short pocket or wife purse
our old P&S died on us so time to get a new P&S camera
other true pocket P&S I have owned that compare wont got into older cameras
canon SD500 Canon SD870 DMC-ZS3 (SD3500 but returned it right away)

what I wanted in a camera for my wife ?
easy to use and small and light to carry along with great video and good pics ! nothing compares to a pro camera like a 1D model of current variety or a 5D of current variety with L glass so I can be picky but also can be real this is why I have a pen camera ? blows away a P&S like the S90 etc.. when it really comes down to turning everything off but the size is not portable

so was also loooking at the panny ZS7 and the sony DSC-HX5
but from owning a Panny while they are popular I did not like the noise or how the noise was handled ? just looked to blotchy for me so comparing the ZS3 to the ZS7 things looked close enough that after owning a ZS3 I wont own another panny ? just dont like the image quality
want to clarify something
NO P&S is good to me so its a give and take in quality and overall appearance so its a choose the one you like ! others love the panny I did not ? nobody is wrong or right its a personal choice so those panny lovers I am glad you are happy dont take it as a panny bash take it as a hardened pro shooter who wishes for to much !
and really it comes down to features and what you like the latest P&S I got down to are all good and all seem to have choices of what you want each one has something the others do not
yes I wish I could combine them in a perfect package but this is the real world so I say choose one be happy and enjoy

the sony I played with in the store but also looked at the samples here and many other real world samples and just did not care for the way it smashed some colors but I did love some of the features ! like the pano mode and the twilight mode teh video samples I have seen are not the best though ? strange coming from sony ?
I think I would have been happier with the Sony over the panny though ?

so why the SD4000 ? I am used to canon they build nice P&S across the board the video is nice and the pics are nice I would prefer a touch soft but hold detail and not smash it up over smashed up over processed details so the image quality is what sold me and the 2.0 lens !!!! this is the one thing the others did not have

things I wish it had GPS the twilight and pano mode of the sony

so I guess show me a camera that shoots good HD video that has a 2.0 lens that can fit in your pants pocket or wifes purse ?
and when it comes down to getting the shot I would take that 2.0 over the pano mode which is a fun thing but would not use it as much the twilight mode ? cool but chances are I wont be in that situation with this camera

the 2.0 with the video is very nice to have

so that is my reasoning why the camera ?

quality of the image I feel is good for a P&S and its better than the other cameras I have owned but no where near the pen so I am lucky I can carry a pen or my pro gear and this can be with the wife in her purse so we truly have it every day
if we go out for the day with the kids I will take the pen so we are covered ! if we go to shoot some stuff I can take my pro gear so I might be in a unique position

I will have to get more time with this before I know how it handles but from one night playing with it ? seems decent ? dont know how it will work with the kids this is where the pen sucks they are not quick cameras in the focus area ! but the images when on are very nice for a smaller package then a DSLR
http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/can...eview/comments/
You can also see how the 1st user bad comment bcos so emo on IXUS 200 although haven't try Ixus 300 biggrin.gif

Sony is one of the 1st using this new tech of High sensitive back lighted CMOS or their trade marked 'Exmor-R" sensor"..Canon abit late lor & this 300HS is Canon 1st using their so called "Back illuminated" HS sensor. I think same tech-lah where the wiring is at the back of sensor compare wth the conventional type where sensor located fronting the sensor thus less light coming in.

However, TX5/TX7 & WX1 is using smaller apperture size compare to 300HS i.e 1/2.4 only..haha on'y 0.1 nia lah..haha

TX5 was my choice earlier b4 testing at the shop & glued on Canon 300HS. The diff wth TX7 & TX5 is only TX7 ability of 1080 videocam & TX5 just like 300HS - 720p. However TX 5 can dive & battery will not kaput below freezing temp.

There are pros & cons...Just goto any shops & compare & u decide urself. I kinda like TX5 bcos of weather proof & also superior macro level at 1CM nia compare to 300HS at 3cm. & also the panorama function which Canon 300HS dun have..

However after trying on some macro, dark room & auto mode + the manual apperture & shutter speed..This TX5/TX7 can't do that..100% auto & always give wrong shooting..haizzz...Sumore dun have the fisheye, miniature, accent & swap colour mode that Canon having...so me choose Canon 300HS lor.. rclxms.gif

QUOTE(claxxion @ Jul 7 2010, 04:02 PM)
How does this camera compares with the Sony TX-7 and WX1? I'm getting a 300HS in a couple of days and just wanted to know how it fares against other CMOS sensor P&S..

Battery life is rated at 250 shots per charge but I think I got lower than this bcos keeps playing wth it..Already on my 2nd charge right now haha & not even 200 shots.

skyrock 300HS although dun hv the 100% manual but having the manual Apperture setting where you can adjust the F number & also Shutter speed where you can adjust how long the shutter gonna close...Both good for me dy.. I also consider S90 but due to the dull look & also no HD video recording turn me off although knowing it having bigger len which is compensated wth the latest tech of backlit CMOS sensor similar to soy tx exmor-r
