hi all,
my netbook suddenly died tonight,
dunno what caused the problem,
at first, the netbook was idle, then it suddenly hang after i moved the cursor,. rclxub.gif

i turned off the power, and then turned it on back,
but unfortunately it cannot boot up, it says please insert hardisk (something like that),

i did a bios test, it says the harddisk got failure..
i cannot use system recovery also, it keep repeating "please insert hardisk (something like that)"

so, i think my netbook totally cannot be saved anymore,

is there anything i can do besides claim for warranty?
if i were to send for warranty claim, where should i send to? can give hp address?
what documents need to bring along?

do you think my problem is warrantied?

please help, i use this netbook not even reach a month yet, got it from the cool unipack student package.
and thank you in advanced..

You can try opening the backpart of the netbook & try to take out the hard disk & plug it again.Loose hard disk connection can cause error like this.

It's very easy to open this netbook.Take out the battery slide the orange stick to left side till the backpart pop up abit. Then you can just apply some force to pull out the case. This won't void the warranty btw.

thanks, but somehow last night i manage to repair windows, it was freaking 6 hrs long.. from 1 am till 7 am this morning..
but after that the windows is very slow, like having 128MB ram on a vista.. maybe the windows files got corrupted somewhere

so i did system recovery.
so far so good.

next, i will go check the harddisk connection. make sure everything is secure and firm. biggrin.gif

Google up "hard disk sentinel"

Download, install and run the program, I suspect you are having bad sectors.

If your hard disk do have bad sector then I do recommend you to send the netbook to HP service center. You can use some software to isolate the bad sector but it's not a permanent solution. The bad sector will continue to exist.

For fast service send your netbook to any of the HP service center below.
http://h20494.www2.hp.com/repairsearch/MY/default.htm
Since it's just a hard disk replacement it should be done within 1 week.
I just send my Compaq CQ42 for motherboard replacement & they replaced it within 9 days.So their service quiet fast.

The drive found 5 bad sectors during its self test.
There are 5 weak sectors found on the disk surface. They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk.
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there.

No actions needed.

Performance 100%
Health 92%
