QUOTE(Vampyr3 @ Jul 6 2010, 03:09 PM) equip, lens might affect sharpness but if you don't pixel peep most lens will do the job, just that some better lenses will do the job even better.Exposure and weather not really, during a bright day you don't really need tripod. |

QUOTE(Vampyr3 @ Jul 6 2010, 03:29 PM) Hmmm, must be me and my shaky hands.......normally couldn't get satisfactory sharpness when i shoot indoors when i go f8 and above...haha Which mode you're using? If A/P mode, in indoor you use F/8 the camera will use a very slow shutter, so your hand cannot compensate for the slow speed and eventually will result in blurry photos. Indoor f/8.0 need flash or pump ISO in order to get reasonable shutter speed, no other way =D |

Oh yea guys, something to ask here =)
I'm new to bracketing mode, few days ago i tried using bracketing in A mode, it should come out with 3 pictures, with one underexposed, one normal exposed and one overexposed right? But I got 2 normal exposed, one over. The -2EV looks just the same with 0 EV =X I usually use M mode but Manual can't bracket. is this normal? |

QUOTE(kenji_britney @ Jul 7 2010, 03:16 PM) i can bracket with M mode and always do so. just need to set the ISO, aperture and shutter speed, then when you take the bracket shots, it'll adjust shutter speed accordingly. maybe in A mode, bracketing cancels out the auto shutter setting? Owh in M mode it will adjust shutter speed when bracketing? Great, will try that later, cuz I'm not really confident with A mode =X |

QUOTE(Vampyr3 @ Jul 7 2010, 04:40 PM) Read a nifty trick somewhere in a magazine before that after u set to +-2EV bracketing, set teh exposure value to +-1 also.....and u'll get +-3EV at both ends......so it's total range of +-3EV and u get 5 shots, 1 extra on each end of the exposure Oh nice trick! Will definitely try that, thanks =D |

QUOTE(Vampyr3 @ Jul 8 2010, 02:00 PM) Heya, quick question.....what do you guys normally check for when getting a used lens? I'll probably be getting one real soon and am trying not to get conned...haha turn the focus ring and zoom ring see will it have weird sound or too loose or not. And also see the outer appearance also. If it looks new and good and no scratch/fungus, focus ok and rings all ok, the lens should work well. Check for warranty card and the box, accessories (lens hood/lens cap/uv filter etc)So any tips and pointers? I only know i need to check the lens glass for scratches/fungus, motor/focusing sounds and picture quality when shooting a pic......any other things need to check? Thanks a bunch! |

I still remember that time I went cameron highlands with my D40, was still new with it, I shot a closeup flowers with F11, all details no bokeh at all, but I don't think it's a bad photo =D
Owh found it ^^ Highlights overblown in the middle and too saturated XD » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by zellleonhart: Jul 10 2010, 01:47 AM |

QUOTE(latias93 @ Jul 10 2010, 12:50 PM) I don't know how to clean old lenses.. as far as my limited knowledge knows, I take a flashgun and flash directly into the lenses. The heat will kill the fungi. Flash directly into the lens is to prevent fungus growth and it's only applicable at early stages. For your 45 years old lenses, the fungi were there quite a long time, even though you kill them the remaining will still be there. Better send to shops to clean, IIRC it would cost a few hundred (depends on condition).Nice picture, considering you were new at that time! D40 rocks. Thanks! |
