World cup has been my only attention currently. And just checked my portfolio today. Down 18% YOY. vmad.gif It's so hard to time the market's bottom.

I would like to quote Warrent Buffet's on this, "If past history was all there was to the game, the richest people would be librarians."

Ouch. Depends if you're a Buy and Hold person. I'd let FAS go if I were you but the others you can hold. Financials will rebound by year's end.
*
Why so on year end? Any ideas? Y let FAS go? if financial sector were to rebound, I think FAS would be the most rebound exposure. I've not been keeping up with news on the financial sector cause I was concentrating on tech. And I didn't check my portfolio for a month+ till last week. rclxub.gif

Nah..no worry yet for bulls 'coz they're buying the dips. Uptrend still intact.
Need at least two or more days like this to change trend.

At least my shorts are doing a bit letter for me unload some today.  biggrin.gif
*
Danmooncake, are you familiar with the futures market? I find equities not exciting enough. I tend to scalp a lot.

With Fed printing about 600$ billion. Any suggestion of stocks to capture this new bull run?

Commodities: Look at Oil, Copper, Gold, Silver.

Can't beat this US Fed. Just have to ride along despite bad macro economic data.
The initial jobless claims went up last week. Up 20K.

Just be careful. The market can turn south anytime.
*
Are you recommending to dabble in commodities futures? Any ETFs or stocks to recommend? I just need ideas. Thanks Dan for the prompt reply.

So what you think of this counter? Good prospect or good for sake of goreng only?
*
I'd say ride the wave. Main street investors like the story. Trim off profit everytime there's a weakness?

You dare? Tell me how many share you are willing to gamble on this.  shakehead.gif

Tell me which China's based stock aside BAIDU (BIDU) can sustain their price for next 12 months?

For me, Baidu is still the best, followed byChina Mobile (CHL )  and Shanda (SNDA)
*
I just have a small stake in it unlike some big guns here that can trade at multiple times of mine. I was in on almost the opening price on the 2nd that it trade. My strategy is to sell my base stake once it has some weakness and then let the profit ride itself OR sell before its first quarter earnings. Then, short it before the results and then buy on the dips? I think Youku has the most potential in online video distributorship compared to Tudou.

Well, I don't know much as so many in house experts here like danmooncake, sulifeisgreat and zamans98. What'd ya guys think? I'm in because of the speculative play.

I can't really say about YOKU, its PA (Price Action) is very very strong.

One word : lock your profit use Trailing STOP. I close most of my trades nowadays with Trailing STOP GTC.  thumbup.gif

P/s : I rather buy LVS than YOKU, just personal preference.
*
Yes, the PA is very very strong. However, it simmered down today. I sold off my base and riding on profits. Could have lock in at 48$ but I was outside of my trading platform (dating, lol) and could only check the price. Sigh, oh well! A gain is better than no gain.

Thanks again.
Looking at price history of SPY and XLF. Hmm, hard to make a decision.
Is buying ETFs as simple a decision as just buy and wait for market/index to recover?
rclxub.gif
*
I would suggest that you find distressed stocks for sale to wait for their recovery as it would be a much enterprising option rather than buying broad based ETFs. An example, like BP dropping to more than 50% of its value during the Gulf spill crisis.

Yup! Got back in @ 43.50, should at least go back up to the 45 by tomorrow.
Needs to cross back over the 50 dma (45.47), that it can blast back to 50s.  rclxms.gif
*
Congrats, Dan! It closed above 50dma yesterday and today's up almost 46$?

which broker are you using, zamans? interactive brokers is cool though, all tradable markets are available in a stop.

Yes, interactive broker's nice. Unless you got 20ku$ and more to shell, I think it's the best broker out there?

Good evening everyone,

Yesterday off day.. no watch or trade. Just 3 1/2 more trading nights to go for 2010.
Already closed out all my trading position.  Volume is low, not sure if I want to set any new position.
Can't find good bargain at this time. Some stocks like V and CSCO already popped up that
was on my watchlist.

But, I think LVS is about to make its up day tonight after 4 trading days of down.
Maybe I'll keep an eye on this.  wink.gif

Dan,
Doubt it. Opened red today. Sigh, my Jan 11 Calls.

Hello guys, Im new to US stocks and currently residing in the US. May I ask how do I trade stocks online?

Are you a resident at your respective state or a student? If a student, GET a SSN before starting to invest. It will help you eventually if you want to stay in US for long term.
