Landed property is only good if it is gated and guarded. Otherwise, you put yourself and your family at risk. For highrise, you must choose something mid to high end that cost more than 400k. Those mid to low cost apartment, you face the same security issue.

I'm of the opinion, if you want to be safe, try to keep as low profile as possible.

That includes, don't over-renovate your house, don't drive flashy cars, don't live a high society lifestyle. In short, don't attract unwanted attention.

I've entered many gated & guarded community. I dare to say the security can be penetrated easily. So far the best one's at Setia Eco Park. BUT it's just too strict, it definately pisses your guests, visitors & contractors off.

I don't deny that living in a decent managed condo, the risk of unit getting burgled is relatively small. That doesn't mean it won't happen. My uncle's neighbour, 2 mth old Estima was stolen from the condo carpark, in bright daylight.

there's no hard & fast rule as to which is better.

we choose according to our needs & requirements.

take for eg. if your family needs to park 5 cars, then obviously high rise don't fit the bill.

if money is not a problem you could buy extra x 5 carparks in your condo.

personally i think for family better in a landed property.

Those who stay in landed prefer high rise and vice versa.

I had my first property in landed, so I prefer high rise now, less dust, no mosquito and air fresher plus less hassle taking care of the surrounding.

But i will take a luxury landed over luxury condo anytime. smile.gif

- if you car boot is full of stuff, you may need a few trips going up and down the condo to unload your stuff..

-difficult to wash car on your own..

I have quite a number of friends who have been staying in landed houses for many years but recently moved to condo.

Many of them are near retirement and children are either not staying with them or studying abroad.

To them, they said condo is much easier to manage (one has even given up maid) and when they travel, just lock up and go and their minds are much more peaceful as compared to staying in landed.

Agree with u, a lot retirement people will choose condo instead on landed. even my parents coz need to take care the whole house and garden... smile.gif

as for me , i will choose landed as i like move around inside house or do house keeping and to have at least 2 rooms for myself as study/PC room and modelling room. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

In strategic areas, the real winner in coming years will be LANDED.

One can see how much good value from landed properties in Sri Hartamas, Bangsar, Bandar Utama and TTDI.

And there's not much new ones these days. Scarce.

But landed is more of own stay, and not so good for rental.

Condo is not ideal for parking. Problems occurred during festive seasons when your relatives or friends came and pay you a visit. Some refuse to park outside.

can use the same thing as excuse to tell them not to come over coz too inconvenient for them to park tongue.gif brows.gif
