If R that means it's in roaming mode. That's normal for Umobile if I'm not mistaken because for the area that doesn't have umobile coverage, user will be using Maxis coverage in roaming mode. For the APN setting when roaming to Maxis on the other hand, i'm afraid I don't know. Have you contact umobile? Their twitter service do provide fast reply.
