On the contrary. I have never thought of using razer's mousing surface. It's just unreasonable to pay over 50 dollar for a surface.

It is about being happy with what you payed for I guess since besides performance, there's also the aesthetic value and bragging rights from using a cool branded mousing surface. If the latter attractions do not appeal to you, you can always look for a cheaper mousepad with similar performance, like urm.. and IKEA Dralla chopping board, as recommended by IanHo.

It's made of flexible plastic (pictured in the second picture) and there's a choice of dark grey or white colour.

If it's really made of wood, I'd be ROFL'ing when other people puts on a surprised look seeing a guy using a wooden mousing surface comparable to a Func pad.

Use the cheap Dralla first while you save up money for better mousing surface, then when you've purchased an UBER 1337 mousepad, reuse the Dralla as your chopping board.

I like razer goliathus. It suits me best.

Too big? Hell no. Juggernaut is even bigger. 

goliathus comes in 3 sizes...so u can choose which size u like...

u should check out juggernaut...extremely large mosuepad and i like it
