do you guys install apps to external sd card instead of internal since internal memory is 512mb but available memory is around 100mb+. i read through here and some people saying that apps not working well after moving to external sd card,is that so? i'm still thinking whether to buy this phone but after found out that internal memory is so low which can't install much apps on it.

thanks. anyone?

Only the TPU type has that red markings (quite small).. those pics has watermarks btw, the real product does not have epikcase written on the back..
Im on a rooted desire now and i have 512MB of a2sd storage fot apps on my sd card.. for current release on stock, u only can install  on phone which is limited but it gets better when froyo official update is out where u can move apps to sdcard. Another option is to root it.

Widgets and apps are working once the sd card is unmounted from pc. Ive just flashed this morning and use A2SD+, the latest handcent sms widget works flawless for me. Same goes to system indicator, 3g watchdog, touiteur and switchpro widget.

SGS has a larger space which is around 1.7GB of phone memory. Both phone has pros and cons but i must say the desire has a huge support and development community
*
hi,

the 512mb of a2sd can be set any size you want? 1gb or 2gb also can? i see..need to unmount first. allright..just want to confirm everything before i buy this phone or sgs.

ya,agreed. every phone got good and bad side. for htc, quite a lots of rom available and apps as well. sgs still new maybe need sometimes for the development of roms.

thanks thanks

I got mine at sri computers in lowyat plaza for rm75.. transcend class 6 8GB.. the leaked froyo sense rom has been tuned and tweaked by the xda devs. Quite stable and fast. previously  i tried FRF91 vanilla for desire but i cant live without sense ui.. lol.. surprisingly this froyo sense rom has a quite similar performance but huge of user experience satisfaction thanks to htc sense indeed.
We would end up unmounting from pc after all ait xD.. i solely rely on rom manager to flash and partition my sd card. Currently on rom manager it allows up to 512Mb but i believe that u could partition it higher using other method or manually. Im still new and considered noob in rooting and flashing but rom manager works like charm and easy indeed + less hassle. They did say its idiot proof btw xD
*
Hi,

thanks for your reply bro.

i see..you mean you rely on rom manager to flash and partition your sd card right? after reading through xda forums, kinda blur for those partition stuffs...like ext2,3,4. lol...i noob as well.what does those ext2,3,4 do like other forumers recommend to partition their sd card accordingly.

Here is a brief step on how to partition using Rom Manager
1.backup ur sd stuffs and on phone (titanium backup and mybackup pro recommended)
2. Format sd card using ur phone
3. download rom manager, install latest clockworkmod recovery via the app
4. Choose partition sd card inside rom manager app.. set 512mb for ext3 size, 0mb for swapfile
5. place ur new rom u wish to flash at root and apply wipe n install using rom manager..

Its quite simple to flash and install and create partitions using rom manager. Errors are reduced too.

Those sd partitions are hidden linux partition inside ur sd card where app2sd will use it as an app storage location if the rom is using a2sd+. Im using leodroid mod where it just needs ext3 partition where it can be easily created using rom manager. Other roms might require different type of partition btw but i see mostly now using ext3 on froyo sense rom. Rom manager is a flashing lifesaver.
*
hi,

thanks for your brief step. i guess it helps a lots of people here and understand more on how to partition the sd card.

only those rom come with a2sd or a2sd+ can move the app to sd card right and with a ext3 512mb max size? cool..so those few apps like titanum backup, rom manager and clockworkmod is needed for rooting and partition. anyway what is the difference between the rom manager and clockworkmod? both can flash rom and do partition?

lol..windows based user suddenly jump to linux. totally lost...

so the higher the better? and what brand is the best? or recommended?
*
i guess the higher class is better as it's the transfer rate between the pc and your phone sd card. i think mostly people recommend to get sandisk? correct me if i'm wrong.

for checking A2SD, you can download from market "quick system info".. note that if u hate that notification, u can disable it in the settings of the app, we just need the app to check A2SD status only

and for disabling data, yes, you can use apndroid for sure.. but im using a combined widget instead for all my controls.. im using switchpro widget as it offers 7 controls in one panel
*
hi,

thanks again for the quick system info.i downloaded the android system info that why wondering how come it doesn't show the a2sd.

ok..i had download the apndroid. the combined widget is the same as extended widget? cool..will download switchpro and try.

thanks

android system info dosent show a2sd status.. not sure bout any other but quick system info does .. yes, extended widget is considered as a combined widget, you could use that one too smile.gif It is basically the same functionality but it is more compact and space saving. I prefer switchpro as it shows up to 7 docks.. there r some other that shows up to 7 docks too but i cant remember their name..
*
hi,

ok..will download extended widget and switch pro. any other widget to recommend? hehe..i think there're quite a number of widget available right? anyway which rom are you in now? battery life good?

Do you know to disable contact from sim card instead of showing phone contact in phonebook? is there any apps that can allow me to edit a lots of contact at a time? i'm doing manually to edit my contact name..still long way to go...

thanks
