Im on a rooted desire now and i have 512MB of a2sd storage fot apps on my sd card.. for current release on stock, u only can install  on phone which is limited but it gets better when froyo official update is out where u can move apps to sdcard. Another option is to root it.

Widgets and apps are working once the sd card is unmounted from pc. Ive just flashed this morning and use A2SD+, the latest handcent sms widget works flawless for me. Same goes to system indicator, 3g watchdog, touiteur and switchpro widget.

SGS has a larger space which is around 1.7GB of phone memory. Both phone has pros and cons but i must say the desire has a huge support and development community

I got mine at sri computers in lowyat plaza for rm75.. transcend class 6 8GB.. the leaked froyo sense rom has been tuned and tweaked by the xda devs. Quite stable and fast. previously  i tried FRF91 vanilla for desire but i cant live without sense ui.. lol.. surprisingly this froyo sense rom has a quite similar performance but huge of user experience satisfaction thanks to htc sense indeed.
We would end up unmounting from pc after all ait xD.. i solely rely on rom manager to flash and partition my sd card. Currently on rom manager it allows up to 512Mb but i believe that u could partition it higher using other method or manually. Im still new and considered noob in rooting and flashing but rom manager works like charm and easy indeed + less hassle. They did say its idiot proof btw xD

Here is a brief step on how to partition using Rom Manager
1.backup ur sd stuffs and on phone (titanium backup and mybackup pro recommended)
2. Format sd card using ur phone
3. download rom manager, install latest clockworkmod recovery via the app
4. Choose partition sd card inside rom manager app.. set 512mb for ext3 size, 0mb for swapfile
5. place ur new rom u wish to flash at root and apply wipe n install using rom manager..

Its quite simple to flash and install and create partitions using rom manager. Errors are reduced too.

Those sd partitions are hidden linux partition inside ur sd card where app2sd will use it as an app storage location if the rom is using a2sd+. Im using leodroid mod where it just needs ext3 partition where it can be easily created using rom manager. Other roms might require different type of partition btw but i see mostly now using ext3 on froyo sense rom. Rom manager is a flashing lifesaver.

just root my phone and flashed NeoPhyTe ROM 1.2 Sense-FroYo. anyone using this rom? i wonder how can i check whether my apps is install to ext3? i checked under sd&storage option there it doesnt show. only sd card and internal memory only. any idea?

what the best apps for turning off 3g? i heard some people saying something like apndroid?

for checking A2SD, you can download from market "quick system info".. note that if u hate that notification, u can disable it in the settings of the app, we just need the app to check A2SD status only

and for disabling data, yes, you can use apndroid for sure.. but im using a combined widget instead for all my controls.. im using switchpro widget as it offers 7 controls in one panel

android system info dosent show a2sd status.. not sure bout any other but quick system info does .. yes, extended widget is considered as a combined widget, you could use that one too It is basically the same functionality but it is more compact and space saving. I prefer switchpro as it shows up to 7 docks.. there r some other that shows up to 7 docks too but i cant remember their name..

recheck back again.. go to stock messaging, see at received and send messages setting, untick all.. make sure u untick all once again.. its supposed to be ok after that
