Rooting with Unrevoked seem to be the easiest way but i have heard about needing to install drivers if we root using Windows. Anyone have any step by step on how to do it on Windows with Unrevoked? Some say disable HTCSync but some say enable it. Its confusing and i have no idea what driver to install.

Here is short guide

Rooted using the unrEVOked one click root. Then installed Titanium Backup and backed up everything (including backing up SD Card manually!! - copy from card reader into your hdd)

Downloaded ROM Manager from the Market to create partition.

Went to recovery via unrEvoked and did a nandroid backup. Wipe everything, then flashed 1.6 of LeeDroid and the radio update.

Once it had booted just setup my gmail account so I could access the market, downloaded Titanium Backup again and restored everything. Another reboot and everything is back to pretty much as it was before - think I just had to sort out a few widgets.

Please move the apps that you use as widgets on your home screens into the phone storage.

nandroid can restore your phone to previous state (it's like u make a recovery image in ur computer), but titanium can only restore contacts, files, sms.

Market Enabler have been re-written and renamed to MarketAccess. MarketAccess works better as you can see the paid apps tab. As I understand, the apps will be tied to your gmail acc.

A bit confuse when reading post about rooting~~ Hope someone can answer~~
After I root using maliqu3 method, is the stock rom still available before i flash another rom on it? Or i need to flash a new rom immediately?
before flashing fom, partition needed for a2sd right?

so the process basically would be  backup --> root --> wipe sd --> partition sd --> flash rom --> flash radio (if necessary) --> restore ?
Planing to jump into dark, downloading modaco r5 now~~any comment about this rom?

No, is a prebake rom~~it has been release as they are now working on r6

i wonder how you all restore your apps+data using mybackup pro or titanium backup. i flashed rom,partition sd-card using rom manager,install back mybackup pro or titanium...can't restore back and it's showing me "could not find backup set". i wonder you guys just copy the backup file from sd-card to pc then transfer back to sd-card right? why mine is not working?

AMOLED has done well on HTC Desire IMHO.  SLCD should perform better (should!) and perhaps that is the reason they r taking SLCD over LCD as a replacement over AMOLEDs. Hopefully SLCD is not a lab rat for HTC and will be used on their next devices. They surely have done testing (of course, its a big company with research facilities) but their PR's words about SLCD over AMOLEDs arent so convincing. They only say that its comparable to AMOLEDs but having a slightly better battery friendly effect. Smells fishy there.
Have you copied back the folder from the SDcard backup? Titaniumbackup is the "titanium backup" folder while mybackup pro is in the "rerware" folder. Copy it back into ur SD as all the backup data is stored in there.

A few noob question here~~
1) After i rooted, i can keep the gold card and flash with normal SD card right?
2) When i do partition using rom manager, it go into the recover mode and a few option from there, one of them is sd partition. But when i go in it only have choice of erase or format partition without create partition. What should i do?
3) To flash rom using rom manager like modaco prebake rom, i just need to copy the file i download and choose from the rom manager option?

not sure bout update.zip file. I cant see that option in titanium backup for creating a update.zip file. As i know that update.zip file is the signed zip package for rooting and fake flashing using clockworkrecovery. But, u can try.. perhaps i missed out on that feature. I only copy back the titanium backup folder onto my SD and same goes to reware folder. No need to create a new folder, i havent done that. Just copy back the reware folder and you're all set to go to for restoring. Take note that there would be an error saying that ur current contacts are not in sync with google contacts, for me, i just choose to delete those conflicts other than choosing other options. You will see that google sync notification error later when ur restoring ur contact. Choose the one u prefer.

Personally for me, for contacts, sms, calendars, alarm and bookmarks. It is compatible either ur non a sense rom or not on sense rom (froyo non sense). Agreed on titanium backup is less user friendly but i see that it is more powerful and extensible if ur a power user. I use titanium back only for AppData such as 3G watchdog and game progress (fifa 2010, zenonia). Im not quite sure if mybackup pro can do appdata backups. Can anyone confirm this? Havent tried btw.

hurm.. ive already tried using leedroid and android facebook works well. but not the latest version of leedroid. I havent tried his latest version. I see that on the latest changelog it says : Maps, Facebook, Spare parts & talkbak installed to /data .. i honestly dont know what that mean. Lets see what people would reply on ur comment on that thread. Sounds like its installed already and upgradable since its in /data. Anyone can confirm this?

perhaps its already in the rom but u cant see it. Or Leedroid has done slighty wrong on it. It should be working but when its loaded onto the rom already, depends on the developer to allow it to be updated or not .. perhaps thats what he means by /data installed. Lets just wait n see. Perhaps if there is a fix, u will just have to flash back the newer one and no need to wipe.

@nvidia134, maybe sumthing is wrong sumwhere. Tried rebooting ur device yet? and tried to check in application list in settings either if its there?

Facebook on LeeDroid 1.6 is working for me.
