For those with C2D setup, if want to squeeze a little bit more of your CPU....
1. Go to the BIOS, disable Intel SpeedStep..
2. Download ThrottleStop http://www.mediafire.com/?bvmy1apwtraafzy , credit unclewebb@NBR
3. Run ThrottleStop, might want to run CPU-Z as well to check the clock speed...
4. Don't turn it On first
5. Tick the Set Multiplier, set it to highest you could get...
6. Tick EIST if its not ticked..
7. Turn it on...
8. Then untick EIST
9. Your CPU should run at highest multiplier all the time...
e.g. P8700 will run at 2.66GHz...
To revert, just tick back EIST, untick set multiplier, turn it off and go back to BIOS and enable Intel SpeedStep...

If want to compare boot time, to make sure it run properly, right click the boottimer.exe and open properties, choose unblock....

If want better result, can try to lower the voltage vid, to make it run at the fastest speed available with lowest heat possible.... In other word, undervolting laugh.gif

QUOTE(Fantasia @ Aug 23 2010, 12:15 PM)
o.O does this affect the performance significantly?
*
Nah, did say if you want to squeeze everything...
1-2 seconds faster perhaps in cpu intensive tasks...

QUOTE(daisuke @ Aug 23 2010, 12:47 PM)
hav to do this everytime we log in?
*
Maybe, haven't try with restart....

QUOTE(evolution120 @ Aug 23 2010, 01:08 PM)
lee, does it damage the proc? o.0
*
Nothing much different than running it normally, since it using IDA, just that making it run at 2 cores instead of 1 core...

If its really dust, it should be inside since production, unless now there's gap on the screen plastic?

SXPS 16....
Though maybe almost equal gaming performance since SXPS 16 has higher resolution compared to Vostro 3700...
