Greetings, SIFUS!

I really need help and advise in making the final decision between
Samsung LA40C530 and Toshiba 42ZV600E
MAINLY for playing PS3 and also watching movies.
From what i've come to know,

The strong points about samsung is that it is:
cheap (2600)
plays movies from usb straight (supports alot of file types)

and the points for toshiba is:
Subwoofer?
+2"
100hz

I'm not sure which PQ is better as I've never been able to compare it side to side. However, Samsung has only 60Hz and I've read somewhere that the response time of the tv is somewhere around 30++ ms response time? So I'm not sure if it will cause any noticeable delays or lags when I am pew-pewing.

Plus, If I were to choose Toshiba, it won't be able to play movies straight from usb? but thats not really a biggie i can just hook my com to the tv. However, I've read rumours about toshiba's price dropping in a couple of months due to the launch (possible) of a new series.

All in all, I am very eager (like a 5yearold on a sugar high eager) to hear all you almighty sifus' 2cents!
Help me solve my dilemma won't you please please PWEASE?
THAAANKSS GUYYYSS!! XD

These 2 models are in different leagues lah. The biggest attraction from this samsung tv is its built in media player only if you don't mind the sub-title issues current faced by some of the owners

if your going for samsung just for the media player capabilities, then your choosing the wrong choice. The toshiba has tones more feature compare to the samsung, that media player cant play some files smoothly. If you really wanna play medias, buy the wdtv live, is a wiser choice.

samsung media player play better than wdtv, why waste your money to buy another media player which samsung media player can play smoothly and perfect, the problem with subtitile can be further solve by firmware update

for me go for samsung la... why u want buy lcd tv like zv600 that same as plasma tv, zv600 reflection same as plasma... so no point and the price, damnn RM1000 different... one more thing the 200hz that zv6000e promises is nothing, there has nothing different on 200hz, becoz our broadcasting capabilities is only 50hzz, the different RM 1000 between C530 and ZV600 u can buy a lot of satay and eat

U say our broadcast capabilities is only 50hz.. but I'm not using it to watch tv/astro.. main purpose is PS3 and watching movies i have through computer or flashdrive.

the specs I'm most concerned about is the tv response time and refresh rates.

And yeah the price between samsung and toshiba is about RM800, but if the PQ and image smoothness is better, i guess it is worth the money. PLUS it has an extra 2" brows.gif The only thing is, new toshiba sets might be coming out soon so the prices might drop but I dont really wanna wait any longer. Oh and did u mean that if I wanted to get the ZV i might as well get a plasma? is the ZV better or a plasma?

Have any of you guys tested or played the ps3 comparatively on these 2 systems? Well even if not comparative it's ok... Just let me know if you've played games like MW2/Tekken/GOW3/Midnight Club or any fast paced action movies on these tvs and let me know if there's any noticeable lags or blurriness?

Once again... thanks guys... really appreciate the feedbacks

Bro, if you're rich then you can go for what ever model you wan!
But if you not rich then just buy the samsung. Why pay so much when the technology change every 6 to 8 months!
Hence, that's why new sets are ALWAYS coming out and so the prices are always dropping!

i agreed 100% with darknite.... techology change very fast... let say ZV600E now about RM3500, next year maybe this model become less than RM3000, maybe RM2500

please, i have a samsung tv and the toshiba myself, my samsung tv cant play all the media files I wan, certain mkv file lags, and some of the anime i watch the subtitles are gone, so i have my facts to prove, i'm taking BS.

Added on June 27, 2010, 4:07 pmI'm saying it wont to harm by spending abit more money to buy a proper media player with the proper codecs to play your files. biggrin.gif

to the latest? not to sure cause i didn't use the tv, my bro is using it. But didn't use it to much cause the wdtv can stream movies from my pc, so don't need to be so troublesome to plug in and plug out the HD

I never seen samsung, but I reckon samsung should win in term or brightness.. That's samsung..

so far to me, zv has been great, one of the best LCD TV speaker I hv experienced. and yes MW2 on ZV no blurry and all.. just silky smooth, turn to game mode and walla!

if u want to use ur PC with the TV, better buy samsung. ZV don't support 1920 resolution using vga cable.

My laptop has hdmi haha..

Well, I kinda figured out ZV would outperform samsung in games d...
But I'm still wondering if samsung can even come close to the ZV in terms of game performance... as long as it is not noticeable by the naked eyes and I won't get fragged because my tv is lagging by 0.5seconds, then I would rather save 800 bucks and buy Samsung I guess

If game input lag matter most to you, look for those tv with S-IPS panel and avoid S-PVA panel as it is known to have poor input lag in gaming. You could visit AVS forum as there are tons of info regarding this.

a good tv is one that displays good picture/movies. if its good in something else that means the cost of quality parts, testing, engineering has gone from making the picture good to something else.

you would not want a tv that can play all sorts of codec but end up the picture is........

you buy a car because it drives well, not because it has good air cond. Same goes with tv, you pay for good picture quality. why buy a tv with media playback functionality?

im using toshiba 42" now and the PQ is really good for its price.
