I dun have any HT set right now in my living, I intend to buy the first HT system and pretty much decided on the speakers and AVR but there are some consideration especially the size of the room. My living room is about 16 x 20, and it is integrated openly with the dining hall which is about 14 x 16 and which has a small walkway to the kitchen.
In the past I would have said those subs would not be enough for your living room. However, after visiting arremie my views changed a bit. His system also in the living room which is open to the dining area and rest of the ground floor. The bass output was surprisingly quite strong and he's only using a 10" sub if I'm not mistaken (the CHT-10R or 10Q I think). Must be his placement which enables the sub to couple to the room. Not saying that everyone can achieve this, but try it out first. If you're planning to get the whole set from A&L, I'm sure you can ask them to loan you the sub to try at home.
