As I have suggested in your earlier but similiar thread, neither does the job well for the room of your size.

I think I gotta find a way to make a dedicated HT room then... there is really no choice to have a decent HT setup in a living room ???

Can. Decent is very subjective. Of course, a dedicated HT room would be ideal. But, a living hall is still good if you have proper calibration and acoustic treatment. What kind of HT system that you have now?

But living hall is not practical to put up those acoustic treatments and may looks ugly. In addition, if you go for projector, room is a must.

Htkaki, for a room of 10' x 13', is it considered small room especially need to accommodate SVS Sub and a PJ inside ??

I dun have any HT set right now in my living, I intend to buy the first HT system and pretty much decided on the speakers and AVR but there are some consideration especially the size of the room. My living room is about 16 x 20, and it is integrated openly with the dining hall which is about 14 x 16 and which has a small walkway to the kitchen.

My budget is around 10k, the speakers would be most likely
- PSB T6 or T5
- PSB C5 or C4
- PSB B5 or B6 or S5
- PSB SubSeries 5i or Velodyne 10/12 CHT

A bit undecided yet for AVR, as I'm still considering the new Marantz SR6004 or SR5004 or maybe Denon 1910

That's a small room. Your monstrous 12-Plus will overpower the room with ease sweat.gif If you put a pj inside, you could only get about 80"-90" max in there.

You can still do it but need to do some treatment and also acoustic treatment particularly bass trap smile.gif

SR6004 is quite good as it is musical but a bit 'conservative' in bass reproduction. Denon is coming up with 1911. So, 1910 probably at abt RM2.5K range by now.

With that such an open space, both subs might have problem unless you place it close to your seat. This way, you could still get the bass. Phase adjustment and placement is the key. Less headache way is to get a powerful sub.

The reason I want to find a room for HT is planning to go for pj. But, the biggest room I can have is 11' x 13' cry.gif

The biggest concern is the PB12-plus. If not run with caution, it can also easily over-power any room, even my living hall of 15' x 18'. Htkaki, beside the acoustic treatment and bass trap, any other advice you would like to input? Maybe running the sub neutral rite? Svs is not about going how loud but ability to dig deep with detailed bass that really impress me.

You can set it at 'neutral'; 75dB. If there is minimal room treatment, the energy build up could be a concern. Try treating the corners and have bass traps. With this, it could not 'excite' those resonant room modes. If the bass is being reinforced, it could affect the quality making it muddy or boomy. When you have done that, the result is rewarding. You will get clearer audio with details and also good tight bass.

Glad to hear that you like your sub very much smile.gif

Haven't lay my hands on that yet. So, I am not sure about SB10-NSD and SB12-NSD's performance. It is claimed that it could output at very respectable level at the lowest freq response. So, it would go loud and if given the same price point or a thousand quid more, I assume that those other makes will not even be close to it.

Anyway, it would be here in about 2 weeks time along with SB12-Plus and SB13-Plus.

In the past I would have said those subs would not be enough for your living room. However, after visiting arremie my views changed a bit. His system also in the living room which is open to the dining area and rest of the ground floor. The bass output was surprisingly quite strong and he's only using a 10" sub if I'm not mistaken (the CHT-10R or 10Q I think). Must be his placement which enables the sub to couple to the room.

Not saying that everyone can achieve this, but try it out first. If you're planning to get the whole set from A&L, I'm sure you can ask them to loan you the sub to try at home.

Thanks bro for your recommendation, just wish to know a little bit... Is Velodyne Sub always better than the PSB SubSeries ? I heard a lot of good reviews on the CHT-12 but not on the SubSeries

Seems to me that not many forumers own the SubSeries. I also haven't demo it so I can't say if the Velo is always better than PSB.

Didn't do a side-by-side comparison. Long ago, there is a unit of 5i at the shop along with the Alpha B. Bottoms out easily at high volume. At moderate vol, it is quite decent. Having own a CHT-12R before, my money on Velo since it is more powerful since it is using a 12" woofer.

It is best that you ask side by side comparison at A&L to judge for yourself.
