hi guys... new CM USP100 owner here...
I got one question regarding the optimum airflow... atm, I have default 1 stock front intake fan, 1 90CFM 120mm CM bottom intake, 1 90CFM 120mm CM side intake and 1 stock exhaust at rear... I know this is as per suggested by CM, but I wonder if anybody has any experience having the side panel fan as exhaust. 1st, I'm using MSI graphic card with MSI Cyclone II HSF. so, under my current config, I'm pretty sure that the graphic card is getting the fresh air from bottom intake and side intake. however, I wonder if it is actually wiser to exhaust the air out immediately rather than blowing more air inside with side panel fan. another thing is, which one is better? -ve pressure (more exhaust than intake) or +ve pressure (more intake than exhaust)? I'm planning to replace all stocks fan (front intake and rear exhaust) and add another one side panel (i'm using transparent panel, so can fit 2 side panel fans) with another 90CFM fan... is it a wise thing to do??? or should I settle with lower CFM for front intake??? |

that tail seems like only exist in OEM versions of 5870 and also their workstation graphic cards, like FirePro. No idea what is it for, aerodynamics?

My fan configuration (All 12cm fans): Front Intake = CM 90cfm Blue LED Bottom Intake = CM 90cfm Blue LED with filter Side Intake = CM 90cfm Blue LED + CM Silent Blue LED (Stock front intake USP100) all with filter 5.25" Drivebay Intake = CM 90cfm Blue LED Rear Xzos = CM 90cfm Blue LED From my experiment, sidepanel fan better set as intake, give cooler temp for GC, mobo If set as xzos, GC & mobo more warm a little bit |

@MilesDomini, urs is OEM 5870. no wonder so long dude. if u r able to cut it neatly then shouldn't b a problem or u could take off the back plate. i guess the back plate is not important.

QUOTE(SteamieHP @ Aug 10 2011, 08:42 PM) Guys, which one is better than the other : It all depends on how your system is and what kind of user you are.1. CM Storm Enforcer 2. CM 690II Advanced 3. CM Storm Scout More prone towards Storm Enforcer. but still thinking which one should i get in the future If you really like the aesthetic design, go for Enforcer. Like plain and simple, go for CM690II Advanced. Move around frequently, go for Scout. Remember to asses each case's practicality. QUOTE(mrl @ Aug 11 2011, 12:51 AM) thanks for the reply... hmmm, so it's better to stick with the suggested config by CM then... I've read about this somewhere about +ve and -ve pressure in computer.looking for answer on -ve pressure and +ve pressure next... Generally, you need to equalize the amount of intake and exhaust fans in your case. This post has been edited by nas06: Aug 11 2011, 01:19 PM |

QUOTE(DarkNite @ Aug 12 2011, 11:09 AM) Storm cases built to withstand most damage/abuse.Once my Scout fall off while relocating, about 2 feet fall. Barely dent the front bezel plastic, very tough. IMO the door hinge should be tough, unless you break it on purpose. |
