I'm guessing it's Alan Smith, the ex-Arsenal striker and not the current Newcastle player? I've always preferred Ian Wright myself smile.gif

I was thinking the same, but tendousidek had Woodgate and Bremner in his ranks, so I'm guessing it IS the Newcastle fella who started at Leeds.

I mean, its your Dream XI and everyone has their favourites I suppose but... I'm curious... Why? The original A. Smith was one of the most underrated strikers in England, but the new one...

Well you're more than welcomed to name them in your squad. If you're insinuating that it's because they were great headers at the ball, then you'd have to consider Les Ferdinand, Duncan Ferguson and Niall Quinn smile.gif

I somehow never felt Vialli replicated his Juve and Italy form in Chelsea. I thought Torre Andre Flo was brilliant for you guys back in the day.

Okla since you did a Chelsea one, here's my Arsenal all-time XI

Manuel AlmuniaSeaman

Dixon - Campbell - Adams - A. Cole (ugh)

Pires - Vieira - Cesc - Overmars

Bergkamp - Henry

Subs
Mad Jens
Keown
Winterburn
Ljungberg
Anders Limpar (my first favourite player when I was 9)
The Original A. Smith
Ian Wright Wright Wright

** Special mention to Michael Thomas for scoring THAT goal at THAT stadium on THAT night at THAT exact moment tongue.gif

Well Vialli was one of the favourites for the Golden Boot Award at the 1990 World Cup but he didn't deliver. Felt his best football was played before that tournament. Having said all that, he did average a goal every 3 games for Chelsea which wasn't all that bad lah.

Ah yes, "THAT" Michael Thomas strike. Jonno gave him some stick for that one. He didn't appreciate it really.

Flo was ok, and scored some really important goals for us, but Vialli really was the master poacher, not to mention his superb performance for us v Duke's team in the FA Cup in one of his better games for Chelsea.

I'm surprised Schwarz didn't make the list, one of the earlier 'imports' for Arsenal who had solid games in midfield. No TW14? smile.gif

Well since we're in the mood for sharing, here's my all-time Liverpool favourite 11. I'm only including players I've seen play with my own eyes of course, with the exception of youtube vids.

Going for a traditional 4-4-2.

GK - Pepe Reina (sorry Brucey)

RB - Rob Jones
CB - Jamie Carragher
CB - Mark Wright
LB - Steve Staunton

RM - Steve McManaman
CM - Jan Molby
CM - Steven Gerrard
LM - John Barnes

ST - Robbie Fowler
ST - Ian Rush

Subs:-

Bruce Grobbelar
Sami Hyypia
Peter Beardsley
Fernando Torres
Steve Nicol
Ray Houghton
Ronnie Whelan

Actually Shearer is very underappreciated by our Malaysian fans. He was good at headers and he used his upper body strength to his advantage (in other words, a dirty b@stard) but he also had unbelievable power in his shots and I don't recall him scoring anything but net-ripping goals. I think he would have been every Man U fans' Dream XI had he opted join them instead of his boyhood club Newcastle.

Schwarz only had a season or two with us, but for me did not contribute enough. I'd rather choose John Jensen! But one guy that I really liked was Manu Petit. His combo with Vieira was one of the best of all time in the Prem.

TW14... Well if he keeps up this form for the next 10 years, then why not? Hehe...

No super-duper-brilliant-f-me-I'm-the-f_ing-man-when-it-comes-to-punditry, Stif Mek Mun? tongue.gif ... But on a serious note, I thought little Mickey Owen was absolutely brilliant in his younger days.

Actually I did have McMahon's name pencilled down but then inreplaced him with Ray Houghton who I thought was one of the best right sided midfielders in the league at the time. I'm still sore at Souness for getting rid of him before he passes his prime. I've already got Whelan, Molby and Gerrard in the middle with the option of tucking Barnes in if need be so I didn't see the need for a other central midfielder:) if I had one more pick, it would be McMahon

i see the old guards phil neal, alan kennedy, mark lawrenson, phil thomson, terry mc dermott, jimmy Case, Ray clemance, Steve heighway wont make into your team (well u did qualify that only those you seen on tv), but missing daglish & keegan! whistling.gif

but what a nice combo still (though i would opt alan hansen over carra), alan, mark & Hypia at the back. wont argue much on the midfield, could throw in daglish over Mc Manaman to make it 4-3-3 with barnes opperating as the 3rd strike.

dont know if it will work or sucidal but they quite represent what i enjoy watching LFC.

Thing is Dalglish had already moved on from being player/manager to just the latter when I started watching. Overlooked Alan Hansen though.

your line-up is about the same as mine with exception of Mark Wright for Sami. Molby for Alonso. And MacMahon on the bench.

Rob Jones will always be on my squad.. he was my fave when I'm in school and even got a shirt with his name on the back instead of rushie or barnes.
