looks more like a throttling issue like the SXPS16 with i7... the PSU cannot handle the power needed... so CPU and GPU throttle in order to consume less power...

heatsink compound is to fill up the gaps between the heatsink and the CPU/GPU that cannot be seen by the eyes... air is a very bad conductor of heat, and thus such gaps cannot exist at all...

owh.. thanks astria.. is it hard to dissemble your asus lappy?? and i should apply the compounds on the 3rd picture right?
*
it's actually pretty easy... only tricky part is the heatpipe-heatsink component... needs some force to remove it...

the first pic shows the CPU sitting on the socket... u apply the compounds on the CPU, the center black part where the cores are located...

here's my heatsink-heatpipe thingy... with the fan removed...

left part is for GPU, and the top part is for CPU...

srry man, was helping my friend to fix her laptop + watch Tour de France... laugh.gif

anuyway, the chasis of N82 is different from N81/N80, so i can't confirm if the inside is the same or not...

as for DDR3, it's good for Core i, since FSB has been replaced and thus the bottleneck is removed... the bandwidth of the RAM itself will be the bandwidth u get, so faster RAM = more bandwidth...
