Hi guys, my brother will be entering his foundation year this coming Saturday and my mum packed so much of stuff for him to bring along to the hostel. Can you guys tell me is it really necessarily to bring all these barang-barang, later kena tegur by roomate for taking up too much space.... He will be staying in the twin sharing room though:lol:

Iron
Electrical cooking hob + cooking pot(to cook instant noodle)
Hair Dryer
Kettle(like the hotel type)
Desktop Study Light
Water Pail
*
That's pretty normal. My house even has a minibar. Me and by roommate share the cash to buy one. Other stuff was brough like microwave oven, bread toaster, rice cooker, TV, PS2/3. thumbup.gif
Some even brought a full size fridge. Oh yeah not forgetting a washing machine.

Do remember, any stove be it electric or gas is not allowed. If they do spotcheck, do a good job in hiding them or kaw-tim with the spotchecker. Sometime the warden can be quite understanding.

There used to be a dobi in Amanah. Dunno why they closed it though. After that I just brought my stuff at dobi in Upten there. That is until they increase the price. Afterward, I use dobi in Sg Ramal laugh.gif

Apartment is just an apartment. For food, the obvious choice is upten aka the foodcourt. during the day I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, but during night, walking won't be so sweaty laugh.gif

Outside 2nd gate. Opposite to the Mosque.

While it is outside, it is within walking distance.

Nice nice but quite far from amanah for walking distance . Got bus to there?
*
Its not far and trust me, you'll finish eating first before having a sight on that bus.
When its dinner, people walking to and from upten is nothing uncommon.

It depends. Cendi is bigger than Amanah and one person per room. But obviously, the rent is higher. Cendi RM280, Amanah RM200.
Amanah has a lot more parking lots but no lift. Only 4 floors though. Cendi 2 lift, 10 floors. Good luck if the lift breaks down.

No problem. Unless the previous tenant is a destroyer.

Although if you get a room facing the corridor, well, tough luck. Your window will probably remain like that for the rest of the semester.

Just bring any normal stuff for hostels. Anything extra would be pillows. They don't give any.

Oh you might want to bring a chair + table since the study table is at the living room. Well that is if the chair is still around. Some just steal the table outside though lol. But its first come first serve since there's only 2 of them.

i mean inside the room. like the place u sleep. not living room. for cendi

Well whatever items I've listed that sounds logical to be in the room. Can't have a sofa or a sink in the room right?

Anywya, all you have in there is a bed, mattress and wardrobe. A curtain too for the window.

QUOTE(Dagger69 @ May 3 2011, 08:48 PM)
Amanah got study table and chair provided. Very huge table.
*

Yeah Amanah have their study table inside the room attached to the bed. Not the same with Cendi.

QUOTE(cyewe @ May 3 2011, 09:29 PM)
since u said the 2 study table and 2 chairs are at the living room, so whoever reach first will take it inside their room ? or it must be at the living room ? so advisable to buy a study table and chair ? thx for those info man.
*
Its actually 2 long table and 4 chair. A single table is for 2 person.

Me previously, I bought my own. The tables outside are huge. Cumbersome to just move it around let alone drag into your room. The chair works but can be uncomfortable if you want to sit on it for hours (I know I do biggrin.gif ). All I did was go to Tesco, grab the cheapest table and chair = WIN. Cost less than RM100 for both. Heck I still use the chair I bought back then. The table I just left it after graduate laugh.gif

Err since when i said the tables and chairs at the living room. Study table and chair provided IN the room @ Amanah. For Cendi, yes, like you said, the study table and chairs will be outside. You can take the one of the tables or just buy a new 1. There will be enough chairs for all of you, so no problem.

I believe he's in Cendi laugh.gif

I'm not sure how it is now, but for first semester, your schedule is pre-determined by the uni. You do not need to register the subjects yourself. You'll need to do that second semester upwards.

For the first semester all they teach you is how to use their system and to actually register yourself with the system.

Again, this is during my time which is a good 5,6 years ago sweat.gif

oh ok. but must wear collar shirt right ? jeans blue or black no problem ? how about shoes ? can wear slippers/crocs ?
*
Simplest to say its smart casual.

Anything else than that breaks the law. Of course, students generally break them. Just keep yourself proper. Wear shoes.
