so i can bring my PC as well as laptop??

thx for reply^^

You can bring all the PCs you want. Although IIRC maximum connected PC per house is 6. And of course, to connect both at the same time, a switch is required.

You will know it soon. How much is foundation now btw? Still 9k? If still 9k then divide by 3, each sem only need to pay 3k lo.
*
UNITEN website says 9k so this should be right roughly.

icic i think i know uniten did that. To ensure not too many people in the same course. And they do not want to reject people if there is no space, since they are gold diggers, thats why they ask you guys to put in more choices. At the same time you guys wont be dissapointed. LoL.
*
Its pretty common. I've seen a few asking for Engine but thrown into IT rclxms.gif

why???is IT bad than Engineer??
*
QUOTE(Dagger69 @ Apr 20 2011, 07:01 PM)
Haha i dont know why. Not everyone can study IT you know. lol. And maybe the job scope. Mechanical, Electrical, Power, Civil and etc have wider range job scope. Popularity wise, engineering wins. Maybe Bro Exentric can elaborate more.  biggrin.gif

Well i cant comment much but yea, that is the truth.
*
That is inaccurate. IT is VERY famous these days. Even my mum who works at JKR says there's A LOT of IT company that comes for a contractor briefing. IT is hot even to a point of over-saturated. What's not hot is UNITEN's standing in IT. Everyone knows the reputation of UNITEN in Engineering, but how many actually know they have IT department? Not as much. Less popularity, less reputation, less people.

QUOTE(melvinking91 @ Apr 20 2011, 08:34 PM)
foundation in computer science...so when taking degree i will choose software engineering......can be said as IT i think...even myself is blur with it.....some of them said its in science and some of them said is in IT.......even the University also the same.....u may find it if u check through a few U...haha
*
CS is still IT in a sense it deals with Information & Technology. The differentiation in terms is to separate them as IT and CS as far UNITEN is concern, teaches very different things. IT in UNITEN deals mostly with information and system (hence the IS major). CS deals a lot with programming. They even have a few of Engineering subjects making them harder than IT. Even most job scope for a programmer or developer will look for what CS have rather IT.

then where should i pursue my degree in software engineering with high reputation...after foundation?? hmm.gif
*
You can't go anywhere with UNITEN's foundation. It's only valid in UNITEN itself. If reputation is important to you, then go there from the beginning. MMU for instance.

really...but no choice....because only UNITEN can get loan up to RM8k and i need to topup another 1k......but for MMU is RM11.5k....and the max loan from ptptn is RM5k....need to topup another 6.5k rclxub.gif
*
Ahh yes. the predicament I had previously. Well reputation does play a small factor, but in the end, its how you bring yourself. Be confident and you can land any job smile.gif

Yes. Just get used to wearing one. There's no harm in it.

I actually wear formal throughout my UNITEN days. Although I skipped the tie early in the year and shoe later on after it degraded to pieces.

Dunno if they give during orientation, but obviously apartment has water. Even has those machine if you're lazy enough to boil yourself (I know I am. Heck I'm lazy enough to use those machine. Just buy 1 big bottle laugh.gif).

its so confusing bro.....because some of the staff in UNITEN just sent me an email said all the tuition fees will not be paid by each sem but it will be instant by the ptptn........this for foundation courses only not for degree programe.... rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif
*
Probably meant PTPTN will pay straight to the university and none of the money (tuition fees money that is) will fall into student's hand as that was the practice 4-5 years ago.

hehe been reading from page 1 since this morning.

Wanted to know more on ptptn.  tongue.gif

oo the course is paid by semester .

During registration oni pay the 15xx fees rite. The foundation is also paid as semester per semester ?

Do i need a special approval letter if i wanna drive inside ? Parking in hostel is available ?

Water and electric and internet is self paid or? brows.gif read about electric is self paid ,izit true??

UNITEN has the most weirdest and stupidest rule I have ever encountered.

First year student by rule aren't allowed to bring any vehicle however their apartment has the MOST parking in all of UNITEN. And even till now, there A LOT of empty slots. Might as well stuff the degrees there as well since Cendi have very few parking lots.

Anyway for vehicles, here's the lowdown.

As said, you need it registered to bring it but you can just bring it anyway. Some of my semester I didn't bother to register since I was lazy enough to do all the process. There's plus point too. If you ever got saman (yes they do saman you for any illegalities (eg: illegal parking), you can just ignore it. If you're registered it will go straight into your ledger balance. Whether you like it or not, you have to pay it.

The bad news is, if there was a ever a spotcheck (a rare occurrence I can guarantee you) you might be stopped as far as the front gate and forced to walk back to your apartment. If you're lucky to pass the front gate, you might be stopped at the Amanah entrance. Again this is a rare occurrence but it does happen. Just consider yourself warned.

As for the process of registering, there are a few documents needed. I can't remember all of them but I do remember the most problematic one (if your house is far), vehicle grant. Get that ready if you ever want to get it registered.

You need a copy of the following: Grant, Insurance, Student License, Student ID, Student IC.

I brought my car in during my second foundation semester, didn't register it though. I stayed in Amanah for 2 semesters only, 3rd sem moved to Cendikiawan. When i was in my 3rd foundation semester, i registered my car in Cendikiawan, as i needed the parking sticker (Less parking slots available in Cendikiawan).
Since then I've been in Cendikiawan, register early every semester to get the parking sticker smile.gif
*
I actually stayed in Amanah till my 2nd year degree. Only on my final year got 'evicted' to Cendi. No choice but to register if don't want to park far sweat.gif

I have no idea as well for the form. Heck I didn't even thought about loan when I went in. At least not like melvinking91. Just went it without a care sweat.gif

Haha bro, now no saman saman and you are free to go. They straight away clamp your car, so you need to go to the security and give your ID to them and they will charge you in your ledger balance. So, register or not, still have to pay now.

They got alot of clamps, seriously, no more clamp they use chain with padlock. (happened at COIT)
*
I know the clamps but I didn't know they stopped the saman already laugh.gif
And they've increased the clamps eh? I still remember when students park at the road leading to cendi. Goes all the way to the main road. But since they lack clamp, car 5th onward got away free doh.gif
And yes, I've seen the chain and padlock as well thumbup.gif

Almost got saman for not wearing helmet during foundies. Actually I have the helmet, but didn't wear since I just awesomely swam in the tasik. Didn't want to dirty my helmet sweat.gif

I never take the bus as I brought my bike from day 1, but they say it sucks. Non-punctual and this one I can attest VERY assuredly; they move like turtle. Ever so slowly and gracefully laugh.gif

Quite a few cycles. Saves lot of cash and easy to move around.

One thing I hate about bicycles are students who just leaves them to rust and rot at the apartments. There's quite a few in Amanah, chained to a pole, all rusted and such.

Can i use wireless router wif the lan connection provided? Or it is illegal??

IMHO their owners are long gone. Graduated or moved out. Even if they were still around, I bet they're not going to care if it went missing. Those bicycle were pretty much left uncared and rusted all over.

Most students buy photocopied books..a lot cheaper than original. In COE there's a printing kiosk and you can photocopy the books there.

Water kettle is allowed but not provided by the university.
*
I only have 1 photocopied book and gotta say, ain't like it. Its extra thick and extra heavy to already thick and heavy book.

Koop already sells it at a lower student's price. Do pay for it if you got the extra cash. laugh.gif
FYI, photocopying books are as illegal as piracy is biggrin.gif

haha cuz usually ppl who dont study in uniten will not know all these stuffs. Not bad. Haha.

Wont open for guys la i think. Its dangerous for the girls to walk from cendi to class. The best for them is murni only.
*
I don't think so as well. Murni is like Cendi but the 3rd building is for married people leaving only 2 for students. If wanna put guys there, have to book the whole building which leaves only 1 left for girls. Kind of impossible.
